Re: Mark IV ch.2 mod to match ch.3? Mark IV+
Same here. I get excellent Marshally tones for channel 2. No reason to change it.

Re: Mesa Mark IV and pedals/stompboxes
I don't typically use fuzz pedals into my Mark IV, but I can verify the clean channel has good headroom.

Re: Playing a Mark III without using the EQ
I don't have a Mark III (I have a Mark IV). But, like you, I don't always use the EQ section. And, like you do with the Mark III, I set the bass low (around 2 or 3), mids pretty high (8 or 9), and treble rather low (5 or 6). I make up for the treble with the presence control. Depending on circumsta...

Re: Mark IV wood type
The shade says "Bubinga" to me. But, the grain says "Tiger Maple".
Could it be Tiger Maple that has been given a very deep stain?

Re: New signature Hetfield Mesa Mark amp ?
Is the Express Mark Series? The Nomad 100 had an EQ too. Sorry if it's a silly question, I genuinely don't know Both of them have some Mark blood in them, but they are not direct descendants. The Express clean is in the Lone Star family. The Nomad is from the "F" series bloodline. If I had to make ...

Re: New signature Hetfield Mesa Mark amp ?
I'm really not looking forward to dropping another $2500 on a new Hetfield amp  dmcguitar had a comment in another thread that made me think; maybe it's not a Hetfield amp but the next Mark amp, the Mark VI. Or anything really, I'm sure that's not Hetfield's first prototype he's got the chance...

Re: New EL-34 Mesa amp?
I've never heard of it, and it's not listed on their web-site.
The description does have that Mesa "vibe" to it, though.

Re: Single notes sound detuned on my Mark IVa combo
A couple of thoughts: (1) Are you sure you are getting full voltage from the outlet you are using? (2) Have you tried it through other outlets in the house? (3) if the voltage is not up to snuff, do you have a power conditioner? (4) Do you get the same behavior in both tweed mode and full-power mode...

Re: Sob
I had one years ago (when they first came out) and used it to drive my Marshall. Once I got it dialed in correctly, it wasn't bad. Brought in some new flavors. It wasn't bad on its own. I used it that way a few times. "One trick pony" is a decent way to describe it. It was a good quality amp, but no...
