Re: Photo request: Mark IIC+ preamp circuit board

Don't even think about putting the tantalum caps in. There is no such thing as a tantalum capacitor that sounds good and when they go bad they become hard shorts. Put in electrolytics instead, best of all, non-polarized ones. Mesa uses those awful tants only because they are cheap and they offer a ...

Re: Royal atlantic head through road king 2x12 cab.

That's a pretty specific setup, those road king cabinets are rare - not because they're special, I think they're just not very popular. Make a new back panel for your Orange cab that's about 1/4 open, it'll take you an afternoon, save you $400, and you can test whether a part-open 2x12 is going to ...

Re: Maintenance For Mark IIC+

Out of curiosity....anyone know how much it would cost (including shipping) to send it to Mesa for a recap job including shipping? A full General Service, which usually includes a complete cap job, checking ALL components specs, re-building the pots, cleaning jacks, sockets, etc and a thorough head...

Re: Maintenance For Mark IIC+

A full recap job including the bias caps, plus pot and jack cleaning, and (maybe) new tubes is all it should need. If it's a low hours unit the tubes may all be good but they should still be tested. Be very sure to warn your chosen tech that he can't have your tubes no matter what!!!! Be sure to us...

Re: Life After a Mark IVb

What went so wrong that it cannot be fixed? I was getting noise. A blown fuse. I replaced the tubes. Another blown fuse. Then channel 1 cut out. I took it to a repair shop next to Berklee School of Music that was double recommended by my childhood guitar teacher and also a veteran pro musician. The...

Re: NAD Fillmore 50...with a buzz....

I just received my Fillmore 50 and am loving the "vintage" vibe i'm getting! I've only been able to play it about an hour or two to test it out and begin to get the feel of the amp with my guitar, but I am a bit concerned after I turned it up loud to get that "alive" feel, lol! It started buzzing, ...

Re: Blown fuse

You have a power tube that is on the way out. Cycling the power is often one way to quell and intermittent short, but its a tube headed towards failure.

Re: 3ch MW back panel channel selector

Hi, I’ve started using rotary switch to change channels on my 3ch MW recently. It behaves a bit weird. Going click by click, from ch1 towards ftsw - it goes ch1-ch2-ch1-ch3-ch1(ftsw w/out ftsw connected). Similar situation going back, with this one additional ch1 out of order. Is it normal situatio...

Re: Roadster keep blowing fuse as soon as powering up

So I have this 2010 Roadster Head I bought on Reverb last week. Worked great at home (didn’t play super loud) and then today at practice (played at a good volume). Then got back home, turned it on again (the usual procedure, going from off to bold while in standby to let the tubes warm up) and... t...

Re: Rectoverb 25 combo channel popping

Hi all- Just started having an issue with my ROV25 combo and popping noise switching between channels 1/2. Both are set to the same wattage (25w) and it doesn't matter if I use the footswitch or the front panel switch to change channels. Amp also sounds a little noiser than normal with some slight ...

Re: Fillmore 50 and question about a lack of slave out

Thank you sir, for the reply! Unfortunately my question about the slave out concerns the Fillmore 50. I actually use the cabclone on both my MK5:35 and TC50 and it works great! I know that i could get the cabclone standalone for my future Fillmore 50, but would rather use the effect loop, if possib...

Re: Fillmore 50 and question about a lack of slave out

So, I'm gassing for a Fillmore 50...  Have checked out all the vids too many times and read the manual front to back 100 times just to convince myself. I have a midi controlled rig with 3 other boogies, MK5:35, TC50 and a LSS. It's a wet/dry/wet setup where I use the slave-out of...
