Re: Could have bought a car but got this instead

A really nice break-up bluesy tone is still eluding me though. Need more time.. More.. Time.. with ... this ... amp :) Congrats! Time is indeed the key .. Bluesy tones are where I live, and I have all 3 channels set for different flavours of grease and smoke. Rule of thumb for me was turning down c...

Re: First gig with Mark V!

Bumping the main just opened things up. It sounded like the amp was more sensitive to my guitar and the attack of the pick. Yeah...it's almost scary especially when I'm really digging into my strings. It's more apparent on Ch1 for me. The plus side of this is that the control is now in your hands a...

Re: Lonestar Tommy Folkesson Mod

VERY nice Hex - great tone and playing. I like the bite you get through rig, which is perfect for the mix you are in

Any additional pedals used, or is the sustain you get all amp and fingers?

Re: Straight question:What's the optimal rating for power tu

Thanks MarkIII ! Well, somewhere in the middle between hot good sound and cold long longelivity. Buying 4x6l6+2xEL34 frequently will become expensive.. But: I was really looking for numbers, bias values, so I can ask specifically at a tube seller :D 6l6: 26 - 28 El34: 38 I usually use =C='s in my M...

Re: On 10w? Seriously?

I think I toasted a power tube while playing Ch 1 in Fat mode... The volume dropped, and there was a slight burnt smell; but the amp stayed on. Thoughts? Were you running standard Mesa 6L6's or EL34's? Not that it should make much difference, but I understand 34's are biased hotter. Hopefully there...

Re: Production stop Lonestar?

I'm from Europe and I've been watching the used market for a couple of months now. I've only seen a few for sale, all combo's, most of them are LS specials. I'm looking for the head version of the LS classic, so even if they would discontinue them, I would have to wait a long time before I'll find ...

Re: Is the Mark V the last of the Mark series?

Who designs the amps circuits? Is it all Randall Smith on his own or does he co-design them? What got me thinking the mark v may be the last is the fact that he must be in his 60's/70's at this stage( i think) so he must be near retiring age.Thats maybe why the V is kind of a greatest hits of the Mar...

Re: Production stop Lonestar?

The Lonestar seems to be one of Mesa's success stories, and who knows if or when they will come up with a worthy alternative But - the used market is a great place to pick up a good quality Lonestar, particularly if you are based in the US. They come up frequently in Europe, so even if they stop man...

Re: NAD: Roadster Head

Actually all three amps are competing for my attention. Then there is the dilemma of what guitar to use. Having a similar discussion with my wife, who really doesn't think I need more gear, led me to thinking seriously about what I would keep if I had to downsize to 1 amp and 2 guitars Given all th...

Re: Any suggestions on making the V come ALIVE!

Is there a Humbucker that cleans up when the volume on the guitar is turned down or what can I do to get them to be more dynamic? My current experience is mostly PRS related, and can speak highly of the 57/08 and 59/09's - turned down or split to get the response you are looking for. Like you, I ri...

Re: PRS 513 + MKV players unite!

Great job sir!

I also use a 513 (amongst other PRS), which is great through the V for pretty much any style of music. The flexibility it throws up is hard to beat!

Re: Mesa through a Marshall

+1 I run all my Mesa's through Marshall cabs, with either 6L6's and EL34's depending on my mood. The G12T - 75's are my base sound, and can dial most amps in more easily through these cabs. The Roadster is excellent with 34's, but I tend to flit between both in the MKV Great that we have the option ...

Re: NAD: Roadster Head

My questions: 1- reliability (in theory I think the Roadster would be a little better, the mark has so much things that can go wrong) 2- sound cranked (think Roadster beats the hell out of the Mark from what I've heard, so much power on top) 3- low volumen response (for home practice I think that t...
