Make sure you run the same load to both cabs whatever you do. I run the 4 ohm and 4 ohm outputs to my 2x12 and 4x12.

elektrik, the 1936 is very bright by itself, if it was my only cab, I probably would want something with a slightly mellower/bassier sound. But combined with the 4x12, it is simply devastating with the 4x12 laying down the foundaton and the 2x12 providing all the highs and definition you could want....

I REALLY don't think you need to boost a MkIII. I have a no-stripe MkIII and it has enough gain to blow the windows out, I am not aware of it being modded, but it's hot and LOUD! Sadly, due to a lack of separate EQs and inadequate footswitches, live I only use R1 for cleans and switch to the lead ch...

Very interesting. How do you contact Mike Bendinelli? I am interested in a few of those mods myself, the reverb and R2 mods that is.

I tried a few overdrive pedals with it: SD-1, DS-1, even MT-2 :P . But i dont think the amp reacts very good with OD pedals. The only OD pedal can go w/ this amp (which is the one I'm keeping) is Analogman TS-9/TS-808 mod. I couldn't imagine using an OD pedal with the MKIII, it already has gain for...

My first was a low end Kramer, about an '89 model. It was red with one awful EMG "Select" HB and one volume knob. Some guy had put a dice volume knob on it actually. I removed the dice knob, but didn't bother with the pup, I sold it before I even got around to replacing it! I have no nostalgi...

I haven't heard the GT-8, but the Boss GT-6 is not even in the same category as the G-Major for effect quality, and also sound quality, including s/n ratio. The GT-6 I tried at GC always made my tone WORSE than it originally was by quite a bit, where the G-Major sounded like the effect was surroundi...

I personally have never heard a better Boogie sound than through Marshall cabinets. I have a 1936 and 1960A stacked with 70-watt Celestions and the sound is beyond righteous, my favorite tone ever. The MkIII sounds incredibly intense/loud through this setup, half the employees at Guitar Center were ...
