Re: How old were you when you started playing guitar?
My mother showed me some chords on her old Stella back when I was 8 or maybe 9. I'm 58 now, so I've pretty much had a six string with me my whole life!!

Re: Overdrive pedal for ACE?
Using a Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret feeding the front of my Ace. My other pedals thru the loop...seems a little quieter this way. That DLS pedal is working out well so far- giving me lots of juicy Super Lead tones!!

Re: Rectoverb tone- asking the experts
Thanks for the replies....it's all helpful, too.
Mostly GAS....haven't gotten anything new in a while....and the ROV deal is driving me crazy. It's almost too good to pass up, so I just might wind up with both. Not that it's a bad thing....

Rectoverb tone- asking the experts
I am here, humbly before the Recto gurus in search of knowledge and inspiration!! I have an opportunity to get a really clean Rectoverb II combo. My question is this....can a ROV sound like an Ace, if EL-34's are in place? I'm VERY attached to my Ace's sound and I only have one chance at this. The R...

RIP Johnny Winter
Sadly, Johnny Winter passed away last night in Zurich, Switzerland. One of my personal guitar gods, he was truly a blues giant. I saw him in the late '70's at a small club in Central Texas...why I continued trying to play after seeing him live is beyond me!!

Re: Just got Stiletto Ace head...tubes?
Took the plunge and put some EH 6CA7's into the Ace last week....sounds really good; and I was VERY happy with the EL-34Bs that were in it before!! The new tubes do give me a little more bass which is a good thing, just a little though; not truckloads. Didn't change my controls too much at all. Whil...

More regrets than above, I suppose....I sold my DC-2 last week. Sold it to a friend at work so it definitely went to a good home
. Guess I'm out of the Cartel too!!

Re: tung-sol in v1
I've had TungSol 12AX7s in my Ace for almost 5 years now and I'm finally noticing some degradation...sooo, I guess it's time for some new ones! Seriously...they are quiet and reliable too, at least for me. I'm running TS EL34Bs in the power section as well. Love the sound of my Ace since t...

Re: Is Bias Mod Hype?
Biggest change for me was putting a 4x12 Recto cab under my Ace combo.
It just gave me more of everything and it lets this amp really breathe.
Got rid of all my pedals except my carbon copy...NOW I have everything I need!

Re: What kind of music are people using their Stilettos for?
I live mostly on Ch. 2 in the Tite Gain world. I play classic and hard rock and some harder edged blues. I love the singing sustain this amp gives up!! Very inspiring to say the least. The clean channel is good too...just a really nice lush tone that stays tight no matter the volume. Just FYI...the ...

+1 on the TungSols in V1...they work really well in my Ace along with the TS EL-34B's in there.
