Does anyone know offhand, if Mesa sells replacement cab emblems and how much they are? If not I'll have to just wait until Monday and call. Thanks.

Re: Mark III preamp tubes.

For heavy shred everything: V1 - The nicest, sweetest tube you own. Everything else - choice high gain chinese tubes. 12AX7B's, and silver specials from the 80's. I got alot of old Chinese 12AX7's How can you ID it if it is a Silver Special? On the silver specials, ALL of the visible internal compo...

Re: Suitable alternat for SED wing = c= ?

I just repaired a B52 combo that had one tube with heaters on but no blue glow. Threw my bias probe on it and it wasn't passing any plate current. An open screen grid resistor was the culprit. Replaced not of.the "cinder block" grid resistors with quality resistors.from the tube depot and it was an ...

Re: Suitable alternat for SED wing = c= ?

OK, after playing the crap out of these JJ 6CA7 all weekend at different volumes and bias settings I have come to one conclusion. All the money I have spent on power tubes in the last few years has been wasted. Everything from EL34 up to 6550, these blow them all way. I honestly can't see myself usi...

Finally.....more dudes on the same "gear = tone/hands = technique" page as me. Granted, that there is a point where the playing is so bad that the gear sounds like sh!t.

I just got a sextet of the JJ 6CA7 today in the mail. I hope they sound as good as all the reviews I have read.

Re: Is the Tremoverb manageable for a home use amp?

Being as I run a Triple Rec and 2 cabs at home, and don't need to crank the snot out of it to sound good, yes you can easily use that at home if you tweak it accordingly. Both with tubes and settings. If I put all the stock tubes back in my amp then I have to rattle the walls before it even sounds h...

Re: Mark V tone, tuning for SED wing =C=

I can sympathize with you on that one brother. I got =C= 6L6GC for my triple because everyone said were the be-all-end-all of power tubes. My thoughts? They actually charge that much for these? WHY???? I couldn't get a decent gain tone out of them at all. Cleans were good, but that's it. I sold them...

Gold pin Tungsol or an RFT would be my two choices. Never had any problems with mushy attack out of a tungsol.

Crap yeah that would help wouldn't it. Its actually two amps in a stereo rig...a 3ch dual and a 6505. He made custom front grilles for both amps so you can see.through to the tubes.

Got a guy that wants an ENGL feature added to his amp??

I got some work to do on a guy's amp and while I'm in there he wants colored LEDs shining behind his power tubes like ENGL amps do. Where to draw power from in the amp that is not in the signal path?
