Re: PRS + Mesa... why do they work so well together?

There is major mojo between PRS and Mesa Boogie for sure! I got my Custom 24 back in 1995 and played it through a Fender Bassman 70...traded the bassman for a 2x12 USA Blues Deville. The PRS sounded ok through both. I then played the PRS through a band mates Mark III and knew I had to get on board. ...

Re: Considering entering the world of the DC (DC5 in particu

If you look around you find them from $450 to $650.

Guitarcenter.com used gear online has a head right now for $499, and a combo for $599.

Re: Considering entering the world of the DC (DC5 in particu

The price point on the DC-5 is very attractive to "give it a try". Its basically what I did about a decade ago and it supplanted my Blues Deville as my go to amp. It has a decent clean that I enjoy. Maybe not 'fender' clean but close enough for me. For the longest time I would use a couple OD pedals...

Re: Found some nice settings for full band (with two guitars)...

wow...your 'old' settings are basically the same as mine except my prescence is a little higher at 5, and reverb at 7.

everything else....gain, treble, mid, bass, volume and master vol about the same....oh and I use the gain pull boost most of the time, and EQ is footswitchable for boost.

Re: V twin into Fender tube amps

I have used a V-Twin into a original Fender Blues Deville 2x12 as my gigging setup for at least 7 or 8 years, and I think it is wonderful combination. Most of the time I would use the Blues Channel on the V-Twin and very rarely use the solo channel. I have never had a problem with EQ'ing the two to ...

Re: Found a nice OD/Dist pedal for use with the DCs!

i went to gc and picked up the distortion classic for $39.99. the rep told me it was made specially for guitar center. i think its a rebranded Distortion III. It does sound ok with my dc-5, but I prefer the OCD. I'll keep the mxr on the pedal board for a little while. for 40 bucks i agree it is a ni...

Re: DC-5 footswitch help

The first thing I checked ws the toggle. Its in the center position and the footswitch doesnt change from lead to clean, but the EQ which I use as a boost still works on both channels. I tried the jumper cable trick but only got some strange fast repetative clicking noise on the EQ side, and nothing...

Re: DC-5 footswitch help

I was thinking it was the switch since the channel select LED on the footswitch doesn't light up, but the EQ switch and EQ LED work fine. If I use the toggle switch I can change from Rhythm to Lead as expected. As for these LDR's I have searched and found some topics, but nothing specific to the DC-...

Re: DC-5 footswitch help

Thanks for the reply. I will try the jumper trick when I get home tonite. In case it is the switch, any advice on a replacement source? Mouser? Parts Express? Also...can you elaborate on "bad LDR" if it is the amp. Is this user serviceable or do I need a qualified tech to replace? Guess its a good t...

DC-5 footswitch help

So, I lent my DC-5 combo out to a friend for a two week period. Got it back and my friend says the channel select button on the footswitch stopped working. He says he didnt really do anything but step on it a few times. He is not in a band and he practices in his parents' basement so I believe he pr...

Voodoo Lab Pedal Power2 and V-Twin

I am looking to clean up my pedalboard, and was wondering if anyone has successfully used the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 with the V-Twin pedal?
