Re: TV Jones Pickups on a Gretch

I don't think you can go wrong with the Electromatic - quality, beauty, tone and playability I would expect only from a guitar double, or even triple the price.

Re: TV Jones Pickups on a Gretch

After watching the video comparison of the Gretch Stock Pickups versus the T.V. Jones Magnatrons, I gotta say that I preferred the tone of the stock Gretch in most of the pickup positions/configurations. Of course, this is all a matter of personal preference. As a sequel to my original post on this ...

GIG4FUN and BMW-KTM, LOL! I gotta say you may have tied for first for the shortest sentences ever on an online forum - LESS than one word!

TV Jones Pickups on a Gretch

Does anyone have these pickups on their Gretch hollow body or semi-hollow body guitar? Or, even on another brand guitar? I recently played a friend's Gretch Electromatic G5622T semi-hollow body guitar. I loved the feel of it and especially the gorgeous finish ("Orange Stain"). I have read a lot (pre...

Re: Favorite Overdrive/Distortion pedal

I'm kind of amazed (but, then, in a way, not really) that both Don and Stephen share my feelings about the Rat, considering the slew of boutique/expensive pedals out there. But like many things in life, price is not always an accurate indicator. I found that out with the JHS AT (IMO) and returned it...

Re: How old were you when you started playing guitar?

i was a bit late to the party - started when i was 24. Saw the Who in concert, and seeing Pete Townsend hitting those big full, orchestral chords with a vengeance in the Rock Opera, Tommy, on his (at that time) SG through a mountain of HiWatts, jumping in the air, and doing those windmills like a pe...

Re: looking for Cab

i recommend the Mesa California Tweed 23 1 x 12 cabinet with the Jensen Blackbird speaker. Incredible for Blues, Classic Rock and beautiful full, rich sparkling cleans. if I could marry a cab, it would be this one.

Favorite Overdrive/Distortion pedal

What is your favorite overdrive/distortion pedal? And why?

Could be one you currently own, or that you've owned in the past.

Mine is a Rat that I picked up in the 90's.

Re: New Mesa amp "California Tweed (6V6 4:Forty)"

What I love about the California Tweed is that it seems to capture the best of both worlds of Mesa and Fender. I do not own the California Tweed combo, but I do have the Tweed 23 1x12 cab with the same Jensen Black Bird speaker. I cannot believe how amazing this speaker sounds! Some of the most time...

Re: Mesa California Tweed 23 1x12 Cab

As a postscript to my post, as it were, I realized later that the Mark V category was probably not the right one for it. I guess I associated the cab with the Mark V because that's what I am intending to get to drive it, which was the subject of my very first post on the Board. Oh well, a Bottle Roc...

Mesa California Tweed 23 1x12 Cab

Hi, Was curious who else has the Mesa Boogie California Tweed 23 1x12 cabinet with the Jensen Alnico Blackbird speaker? And what head are you driving it with? I'm looking toward picking up a Mark V 25 in cream, once available, as I mentioned in another thread. Meanwhile, I have been driving it with ...

Re: Carlos Santana Tone

I would have to say "Amigos," if for no other reason than that the song, "Europa" is on there. I can't think of a more beautiful piece by Santana, or, for that matter, anyone else. When i heard the song years ago and was given to understand that he was playing through a Boogie (I believe a Mark I), ...
