Re: Coliseum running KT88

KT66 might work. They sound kind of similar to a KT88. I would ask Mike before doing it....but it is in the 6L6 family.

It's not exactly new information. I heard about it over 25 years ago. Besides they don't even sound remotely the same. The sound is completely different.

Re: Metallica Sound with Dual Rec

You won't get the sound of the Black album from a Rectifier. The Mark and Rectifier amps sound too different. I got these settings directly from their tech back in the day.... These settings are taken from their amps at a show... Kirk: TS9 Settings: Drive: 1:00 Tone: 2:00 Level: 1:00 Kirk: Stiletto:...

G

There is no such thing as a bad REV. Just subjective bias taste. Either you like the amp or not.

Re: Mark 4 - Rhythm 1 Channel to overdrive?

The bright switch doesn't have any effect on gain.....or very little I should say. When set at 10 it should have virtually no effect at all. When set low say 2-4 range it has a very low amount of gain boost (virtually none) and makes the sound brighter. I have a JB in one of my guitars. With gain, t...

Re: Putting together a Mark III Guide

Agree with send it to Mesa and buy the stripe you want. I've played on all the stripes and they sound different enough.
Personally I wouldn't do it any other way.

Re: California Tweed - How to dial the amp for different guitars.

I usually have a idea in my mind of what type of sound I want. Start with all or most of the knobs at noon.....and just use you ears to get it where you want. Don't be afraid of using a knob all the way up or off. There is so many variables....every individual guitar, cab, etc sounds different. Not ...

Re: The Beauty of Mark IV Rhythm 2 ch.

RHY2 with the GEQ is a great sound. On it's own or with a boost or overdrive. It's very versatile. The clean sounds and point of breakup ....all the way up to crunch. It's not as saturated and has good dynamics. The most punch of the three channels. If I use a overdrive it's usually from the Klon or...
