Re: New LSC owner needs some info

Just corroborating, as you noted, the channel switching POP is a known issue when switching between channels at different wattage settings, common to most amps that do this as far as I know.

Re: Can Mark V 35 do Lone star clean??

Guys, the OP is asking about the Lone Star Special vs the MkV35, so the power tube stipulation isn't relevant. He asks a fair question because they both use EL84s. Mesa's statement about the V35's Clean and Fat modes being based on the Lone Star is obviously authoritative :) but in practice it alway...

Re: Mesa Lonestar with closed back cab?

The Mesa Widebody closed back 1x12 with either a Mesa V30 or a WGS ET65 sounds pretty sweet in this way.

Re: Specifics about LSC vs LSS

The LSS has a little of that EL84 immediacy for sure. Not sure I can answer the question about where the amp starts to break up, knob-wise... all the settings have an affect on that. I will say the LSS has a LOT less clean headroom than the LSC at pretty much any setting. They're very similar, but t...

Re: Boost for your ED?

Got another angle to throw in here. Anyone try a good treble booster ? I picked up an Analog Man Mini Beano Boost and it sounds killer. I *think* between that and a good juicy clean boost (i.e., EP Booster, I'm using a Fulltone 2B Boost b/c of its always-on buffer) I am basically set. I've never use...

Re: Electra Dyne Discussion

I've had my Electra Dyne since August and have sort of fallen out of love with it. Must be my speaker cabinet (4x12 with WGS speakers) but I was only able to dial in a tone I liked with the clean channel. Overdrive channels sounded way too brutal yet with no saturation. That clean channel is still ...

Re: Joining the ED Club

What are you planning on doing with the tan medium head when you swap it for black? **curious** I much prefer the tan over black personally, but I can understand wanting a black head to match the cab. It's significantly harder to change the tolex on the cab!! Just an FYI, https://reverb.com/item/21...

Re: Electra Dyne Discussion

It would really depend on your application. I think in a blues, classic or southern rock application the method of using V1 for rhythm and V2 for leads work pretty good, especially in the 45 watt mode cranked up. In a modern rock or metal situation is where this may fall through for you. It's all a...

Re: Electra Dyne Discussion

So maybe this belongs in the "boost" thread, but I wanted to ask, generally speaking:

Aside from booster/driver functions for more gain/tighter gain/etc., what are folks using for solos?

Does anyone use Vintage 1 for "rhythm" and Vintage 2 for "lead" and forego a boost pedal altogether?

Re: Anyone try an ED with 1x12 WB closed back front ported c

Electra Dyne definitely does NOT get along with guitar cabs that emphasize low end. ET90 is a fantastically crunchy speaker. The only issue I have encountered with it is that the low end isn't as juicy and tight as with a v30. Unfortunately, that was kind of a deal breaker for my 2 x 12 since I pla...

Re: Anyone try an ED with 1x12 WB closed back front ported c

Hey, just an update on this: I decided to go ahead and try the widebody. My immediate finding was that, unlike in the 27" Royal Atlantic cab, the stock C90 sounded pretty bad in the 23" widebody closed back cab. It's amazing what a difference the cab makes. I know, different design and all that... I...

I'll bet it sounds great. And you can always add another cab if you need it to sound "bigger". Very cool.

Re: Electra Dyne Discussion

djw, I was happier with 6L6's. I know several people on this board prefer the EL34's, but for me it's 6L6's all the way. It might be worth a try. It softens the midrange just a tad and gives Vintage Lo and Hi this really awesome "sting" to the high end. Also, although I've never been much of a prea...
