Re: I was about to sell my JP but then I found something.

I will have to give this a try, on a side note this is also how you get closer to the JMC 800 bark with a JVM 410, I have also been thinking about selling the JP. I don't get to play as much as I use to and I prefer to play through the ++ or the III.

Re: Owner's of both JP2C & C+ which get's played more?

After a few months I went back to mostly just playing the C++. The JP2C still has too much of that modern compressed tone, for my liking, and not near the edge and aggression of the C++.

Re: Mark III presence setting comparo vid

This weekend I was playing around with the presence knob and the 6600 slider on the JP-2C to see it worked similarly to the Mark III. It is very close not quite the saturation like the III, but tone works the same with knocking down the harshness. Dropping down from 100 watt to 60 watt helped quite ...

Re: New Tubes For MKIIc+

Hello. I recently checked out Mesa's home page and read that amps built before the 90's had 12AT7's in V5 driver. Tho my papers that came with it ( C+ , purchased in 1984) says 12AX7 in the V5. I put an AT7 in it and it seemed to improve tone. Any thoughts? Thanx for your time, James ( Update: I wa...

Re: Mark III ? How often do you guys change your power tubes

After I find the tubes that work best in the amp, there is no need to change them until they die.

Re: Mark III presence setting comparo vid

I usually run my presence around 4-5ish so the middle test sounded best to me it is saturated but still has definition in the notes. The one with presence at 9 was border line mushy, it was fatter sounding but it lost some of the clarity in the notes, and then again that might be solved by bumping u...

Re: Owner's of both JP2C & C+ which get's played more?

Right on, thanks. Having these two, is there anything you miss about your Mark IV or your Mark Five 25? Just to give you another opinion. I rarely play my Mark IV. It has a tone all its own, not a bad tone just different than the other amps(said as more modern). I know I will be in the minority on ...

Damn! Sounding good! I would also like to see those settings. I am still trying to dial in a smoother tone.

I keep the base knob at 1 or less, and add it back in with the 80hz slider.

Re: Quick MK III preamp tube question

I didn't like the RCA 12ax7 in the Mark III. It had good tone but it lost a lot of the aggression. If you don't play metal it would be fine. I prefer Jan/Phillips or GE in v1 and v3. Then a old Mullard 12at7 in the PI.

Re: JP2C closer to a C++?

I agree Markedman, the JP is really close in tone and attack to the C++. After playing around with the JP I can get an awesome "Justice" tone.
