He shows the schematic when explaining the repair. He never shows the last page of the switching circuit though.

Re: Dual Rec settings and advice needed

Mesa's setup with a parallel FX send splits the guitar signal right before the FX send jack. The guitar signal then goes to the FX send, and to the mix control. The FX return jack is connected to the other side of the Mix control. By adjusting the mix control you can alter how much of the original g...

Re: Mesa Rectifier LDRs vs. Relays

I have no idea if relays sound better, or even different, than LDRs. I will, however, weigh in on the technical discussion, as I feel it's a bit more subjective than objective. It's easy to perpetuate mythology when throwing around engineer-y sounding terms. APEMAN, you may be completely right (or ...

Re: Mesa Rectifier LDRs vs. Relays

I'm going to post a correction real quick because I was thinking about it and there are three transistors in the signal path in the loop of the three channel rectifier. My previous statements are still accurate with the exception of that correction.

Re: Mesa Rectifier LDRs vs. Relays

Hi, ...yes in 2000 they switched from the technically unrelyable LDRs to the "better working" J176 (only a few relays where introduced in the first Generation 3CH DRs, TRs, Roadsters and Roadkings 1&2). (The introduction of the J176 as a simple silicon transistor was argued over by many technicians...

Re: Cheapest price you paid 4 gear

I got my MKIII for around 300 dollars from a pawn shop because someone had stolen the tubes and the Lead Gain knob was broken. I had spare tubes and a call to Mesa plus 15 dollars later the knob was fixed. My Dual rectifier rack cost 400 dollars from the Plano Guitar Center because it wouldn't make ...

Re: Want Pre500 tone? Here's how to get it!

If anyone wants help figuring out what needs to be done to a three channel recto and lives in the Minneapolis area I could help. Of if someone wanted to send me photo's of the area around the tube sockets for V1, V2, and V3 and then do some simple probing to figure out the specifics we can do that a...

Post your pictures publicly so that other people can get a look, someone else might have an idea that will point you in the correct direction.

Re: single wrecked

You could call Mesa and e-mail your pictures. They may be willing to sell you the whole board populated as it is a pretty unremarkable part of the amp. There are no trade secrets or anything worth copying on that board.

Re: WTB - 2 channel Rectifier Chassis from damaged rectifier.

Yea, I actually have one of those from Disturbed. They are all for the three channel rectifiers which is not what I'm working on. It needs to be a two channel chassis. Mesa can replace the PCB board of a three channel board if they need to.

WTB - 2 channel Rectifier Chassis from damaged rectifier.

If anyone has a two channel rectifier chassis for a damaged rectifier I would be interested in buying it. I'm working on a replacement PCB for amplifiers that have had the boards damaged beyond repair but I need the chassis to ensure I've got everything spaced properly.

Re: Solo jump on old 2-channel recto?

You could re-wire the master control with a dual pot and the electronics of the three channel's solo function but I wouldn't encourage it. It would be a lot of effort for something that can be done simply using a boost pedal in the loop.

Re: Want Pre500 tone? Here's how to get it!

Thanks for the reply. Quick question: This resistor next to the LDR on the V5 tube, it's not present on Rev C but it is on Rev G. Does it impact the overall tone much? would it be best to leave in place or remove it? http://s6.postimage.org/5d6134xul/SDC101522.jpg You don't want to remove that, it ...
