Re: Tremoverb + Attenuator?

If you’re going to use an attenuator I recommend putting all the tubes back in and then run 8 to 8 to 8. My T-Verb sounds great with an attenuator. Experiment too with getting the channel Masters quite high. It gets pretty beefy. But that will create high send levels for the loop. Getting the channe...

Re: Mesa Tremoverb Don't Cut Through Mix

EQ in the loop will solve all your problems. Just set the loop to 100% mix making it close to being a serial loop. It doesn’t take much of a bump in the mids on the EQ to totally change the character of the amp. I use a MXR 10 band but almost any one will get it done.

Re: New Quad Owner *with vid*

I had a pre in the past as well and CH1 on the quad is as good and from memory a little better than the pre I had. But in kind of agreeing with you, if you really just want the heavy the pre will get it done. I'm interested in what other tones I'll find in ch2 though as I haven't had it long. I love...

Re: New Quad Owner *with vid*

Yeah, I dig it. gotta admit I haven't spent much time on CH 2 as CH 1 is so good. Even though CH2 has a little more gain it sounds smaller than CH 1. Mind you, I have no idea if somebody in the past tried mod's etc.

New Quad Owner *with vid*

Had a studio pre about 5 years ago and kind of wanted one again but wanted to try a quad. Well here it is. Ch 1 sounds a fair bit "bigger" than Ch 2. Clean or dirty. Just has more girth. No idea if this thing has been modded or not. I had it open when I first got it to make sure the tubes shipped OK...

Re: Is this true? Quad pre won't work without FU-2?

Do you really need the foot switch to get sound? That's what this fellow says! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mesa-Boogie-Quad-Preamp-MISSING-FOOTSWITCH-/131559740234?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1ea192534a To actually answer your question...yes. With no other devices like shorted plugs, midi switchers ...

I find the connection can be iffy at the footswitch end too.

Re: Not much love for EDGE Mode usually, but...

I’ve recorded it where it gets a great JMP like tone but it can get spikey and a little shrill on the top end in higher register playing. Can be tricky to dial in where you get the brightness you want for the low E and A strings without the G,B and E being too bright. Takes boost pedals very well. T...

Thanks.
I’ve used 34’s in my V for several years (same ones all this time). I run it fairly loud through an attenuators and routinely use full power. Also sometimes variac but mainly full power. I’ve never had a problem.

Re: EL 34's

Just ordered some for my Tremoverb. Liked it fine with 6L’s but decided to put the ones in my MK V in the TVerb to try it out. Undeniably more articulate for riffs and more clarity in general. Still sounds big and bad like a recto does.

NAD Tremoverb w/vids

Scored this today. Sounds great to me. Did quickies for Orange and Red, but through a cell phone the difference is minimal. No boosts.

Re: Triaxis coming, using with Road King?

You said the amp is muddy by itself? If the triaxis is muddy going in it might be something with the power section of the Single. take two 6L6’s out of the road king and put them in to test the power tubes. Also grab a 12ax7 and put it in the pi slot of the single. This will at least eliminate tubes.

Re: Triaxis coming, using with Road King?

Preamps often sound better using heads for power than actual power amps. Should sound pretty good. For a while I had a studio pre and I ran it into the return of my Stiletto and it sounded great.

Re: TC50 vs Stiletto

Long time Deuce II owner and got to try a TC50 for a decent amount at a store recently. Let's just say I haven't given the TC50 another thought. It just seemed to lack character. The amp just sounds like it's adding more gain to the same basic tone as you go through the channels. I feel the Stiletto...

Re: OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

I feel I got a great approximation of the Social D tone from the self titled album from 1990. With my LP Junior, So Far Away sounded spot on with these settings on CH 2 (I'm running EL34's)
