Re: TV Jones Pickups on a Gretch

Yup, I prefer the stock Filtertron too. For the record the TV Jones is "Magnatron" so not sure how the other TV Jones compared. For my taste the TV Jones was too clean, bright but Filtertron was more Gretsch like how I prefer them. I too want a Gretsch but can't afford "White Falcon" or "Chet Atkins...

Re: Took me 35 years to get a Marshall..now I have two.

So you have a JCM800 and Super Lead. So basically you have 2 of the 3 Marshall classic amps, my favorites. The trifecta would be a Marshall Blues Breaker or JTM45 and you are set.

Re: TremOVerb Combo Speakers: Vin30 + C 90

How'd you like those two MESA's? Other than a Mark IIB my TremoVerb and Maverick are keepers for me. I sold my other Mesa amps. Do you find these two amp are different tone wise but very similar in design e.g. two channels, each with two modes, solid state rectifier / tube rectifiers selector? Enoug...

Re: Does my Road King need servicing? (video showing potential issue)

This is normal. Unless we both are experiences the same problem. The tone controls are interactive. When you lower the treble, the mids and bass will receive more signal and visa versa. Why the design this way is for flexibility. You could have a various settings that makes this amp sound completely...

Re: Maverick 2x12 = Mesa’s version of a Vox AC30?

Unfortunately no, but besides the master volume, it does have a limit control kinda like a second master volume. I know the Lonestar Special is the Mavetick predecessor but it has switching rectifier. The lower wattage 5 and 15 watt uses the tube rectifier and the 30 watt is using diode rectifier. T...

Re: Maverick 2x12 = Mesa’s version of a Vox AC30?

I have both, sort of but not really. The power section of the Maverick is like Vox AC30 but that's where it ends. The stack tone are different. I could get the Maverick to sort of sound like AC30 but if you are an AC30 aficionado it not enough to get the AC30 vibe. Matter of fact I'm thinking of get...

You may have to replace the whole fuse holder with a new one. Like you said, the spring might have come loose and is missing.

Re: Taking a IIB into modern metal territory?

If you are willing to spend get a AMT Electronics SS-11. This is a stand alone tube preamp!!! You could plug that into the jack underneath the Mark IIB's chassis so the Mark IIB acts like a power amp while the SS-11 is the preamp section. Its pricey I must say but versatility of having 3 different s...

Re: New Mesa Amp: Fillmore 50!!!

Looks pretty cool!

Reminds me of upright configuration of Trans Atlantic but due away two different channels and instead two identical channels which you could dial in what you want where Trans Atlantic you might like one channel and like two of its modes but have no use for the other channel.

Looks like Recto oversize or traditional 4x12 with older late 90 beige grill that I seen on Tremo-Verbs.

Re: Mark IIB Gainy Clean channel Opinions please?

I don't think there's anything wrong with your Mark IIB after all. I re-listen to your YouTube Clip and re-read your post. You have the Vol. 1 (rhythm or clean) channel at "8". That setting is enough to give you some break up or you call gainy. Your clip I hear slight break up but stay fairly clean....

Re: Mark IIB Gainy Clean channel Opinions please?

Its hard to say what's happening if its that nature of a Mark IIB or something peculiar about your MarkII. My rhythm volume setting is 5, my lead volume is 7 and lead master is 3 then overall master is depend how loud 1 to 4. By Boogie owners, this is fairly light gain. But its my preference. My lea...
