Re: Getting ready to swap out my road king II combo speakers

Definitely interested in the creamback experiment! I thought about just changing one V30 in my roadster combo.

Re: Rectoverb 25 Combo vs Roadster Combo

I'm curious about the \m/ pickup too. I just swapped the 57/08 in my Studio 22 for a tremonti and it's fantastic. I almost went with the \m/. Let us know what you think after the swap. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the tremonti sounds clean and how well it splits for such a hot pickup.

Re: Matching Pickups To A Recto

I've had the JB, Custom Custom and the Alt 8 in my Les Paul running into my Roadster. The JB has a frequency in the upper mids that just annoys me. I liked the buttery high end of the Custom Custom but the low end was tubby and loose. The Alt 8 just sounded grainy and bad in general. It was removed ...

Re: Roadster Tweed Settings

I use it for my clean tones:
Gain 9:30
Treble 12:00
Mid 9:30
Bass 12:00
Presence 12:00
100 Watt
Tube Rectifier
Reverb almost maxed (it has to be in tweed mode to hear it at all)

For a light crunch:
Gain 1:00
Treble 1:00
Mid 10:00
bass 11:00
Presence 11:00
50 Watt

Re: Need to build a snake for a pedal board

Buy a pedal snake. It's easily the best gear purchase I've ever made and because the CS series has separate "pigtails" that can be swapped out you are covered if your rig changes. I run 2 separate 9 volt power, FX Send/Return, and Amp input through one large cable. I do run a long foot switch cable ...

Re: First time recording a punk rock project

I dig your band! Love the gruff vox rather than the usual "is that a girl or guy" singing I'm used to hearing in pop punk. I think that the drums are too buried in the mix overall. With a remix it will sound great. Nice work!

Re: Need new tubes for my Roadster

I often run mine with the bass knob nearly turned off. The higher the gain the lower the bass. FWIW I traded a mark IV to get the Roadster and never looked back. Also, a Maxon OD808 in front is the secret sauce with any recto.

Re: Need new tubes for my Roadster

Ruby MSTR and TAD 6L6GC-STR both sound great in my Roadster combo. For preamp tubes I recommend a TungSol RI in V1. I'm not a fan of JJ 12ax7's in the roadster in any position. Muddy as hell

Re: Trs cable for FX loop and channel switcher

I recommend looking into a PedalSnake. One of the best purchases I ever made. Worth every penny. I run two separate powers for pedals in front and in the loop, a send/return pair for the loop, and a line from my tuner>OD pedal into the amp input. The pedalsnake cable and my footswitch cable are zip ...

Re: Headshell for Roadster combo?

No speakers to mount. We were talking about converting a combo to a head. It was 500 for just the custom head shell which would have the chassis mounted in the top portion of the shell rather than the bottom as the roadster head normally is. That price Included a reverb tank installed and shipping t...
