Re: Lonestar Classic 100 Watt head with EL34's

Wow...A question~!. The answer is: it depends. If you're running all four(4) EL34s in 100 watt mode, it's more 'British' than 'California' sounding. Since I don't have professional studio engineering ears, it's a very subtle/feel change in my opinion. Either way, the LSC 100 watt head is the first a...

Re: New Mesa amp: Fillmore 25!

I'm wondering out loud why the moderators haven't created a new amp category for the Fillmore Series?

Re: New Mesa amp: Fillmore 25!

Wow wow wow...And I thought my Mark V:25 was going to be the last low wattage head I'd ever buy...Mesa hit me right between the eyes and the pocketbook~!!!

Cancelled?...Well the Express Series is no longer displayed on the Mesa site, so I would say Yes is the correct answer...

Lonestar Classic 100 Watt head with EL34's

Captain Obvious here. Well with a new quad set(tested) of these tubes(not Mesa brand($$$), by the way) in this amp, EL34 bias, with the 50 watt setting, using either channel, Tube Rectifier Tracking set "on' and 'Tweed' power switch enabled...this amp is a totally different animal driving a Lonestar...

Re: Tone Differences between Mark V, 25, 35

I've got the Mark V:25 and it's a great amp weight/price/performance. BUT if you want a 'lifetime' amp always go big...get the 90, you'll never have buyers remorse and left wondering 'why didn't I just save up for a few more months and buy the most and best I could afford'...

Bought a Lonestar 2x12 off of Mr.Reverb. Sounds fantastic with the 100 watt Lonestar head.

Re: Rectifier Tubes

Funny thing about Rectifier Tube(s). My Lonestar 100 watt Rectifier Tube had a 'glassy rattle' but after I contacted Mesa Support they told me I could completely remove the tube IF I ran the amp in 'silicon diode' mode until I got a replacement tube. Of course in hindsight this make complete sense: ...

Re: Lonestar 4x10 Cabinet

Thanks a lot for the link. I hadn't heard of this guitarist before, but as most, once they get their hands on a 100 Watt Lonestar head, that's it. Done. As for me, I think I'm going to default to just Lonestar 2x12...The only 4x10 cabinets I've seen(new) are being offered north of $800...way outside...

Re: Lonestar 4x10 Cabinet

Thanks for the response. I've listened to this clip a couple of times. But, maybe it's just me, I'm distracted by the low action of the Strat. There's too much fret noise/string rattle when he increases his pick attack. The 4x10's are out there, but no side by side with 2x12's either. Not willing to...

Re: Lone star 23 cabinet

I'll take a crack at this one. The both the Friedman and H&K matching 1x12 cabinets are closed back with Celestion V30's. The Lonestar 23 isn't that at all. My informal rule of thumb is British voiced amp=closed back, American voiced amp=open back. On the other hand I have a Lonestar 100 watt head d...

Re: Mark Five: 25 - wow

I just got mine today after looking for a low wattage professional grade amp. Watched all the youtube videos, but it wasn't a really hard sell. I already have the Lonestar 100 watt head(that I only run in 100 watt mode, why not, I paid for the 4 6L6s) and it's an incredible powerhouse. Bought the Ma...
