Re: Mark V 90w Midboost

I don't know...would that be something that was 'Patent Applied For'..? Also from the way that that Ive heard it described it as tapered pot where above 12, thats where the effect of this patented device or feature kicks in. This tallies with experience. Its a definite effect of an even frequencied ...

Mark V 90w Midboost

Just wondering if such a mod could be devised:

To recreate the Mid/Boost feature from the V:25 and the V:35 on the V:90..?

Is anybody on that? Could Authorised Mesa Comment possibly..?

Thanks.

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Honestly couldnt say, for sure as when Ive done it ive always removed the chassis.
But IIRC it probably could be done by taking out the power tubes and recto tube in order to access it.
(Its the one behind the Rectifier tube.)

Re: Mark V 25 classic crunch?

With a Mesa Widebody ported 1x12 it'll then be 1:1, more or less then. IMHO That'd be the remainder of the difference.
I'd seriously consider getting one in if I were you. (Not the most expensive in the world, especially used - Runs great with a 2x12 too)

Re: Mark V 25 classic crunch?

Faded flying v with standard pickups (same bridge as your SG I think) > Straight into V:25 crunch 25 watt > 1x12 ported closed pack does it. Granted, mine's also got an AT7 in V2 and another in the Phase inverter tube V6, plus tungsols for the other gain positions, but replicated that sound real wel...

Ive got an equivalent setup in the V:25 and Mark III too. Its worth noting that the Mesa SPAX7 is also g...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Yup. In the Phase Inverter. Try it. The V4 one does the typical AT7 drive perfomance, the Phase Inverter one appears to enhance that massive 3d sounding vintage Markness across all channels. Ive had all my amps in 'this-config-or-similar-to' for a year and a half. Never looked back. I also use Tungs...

Re: I wish this was an easier choice...

I find that that the 1x12 wide ported recto cab is excellent for single mic recording at "I have decided to spare the world" levels. The V30s are better for stage/more volume imo. The horizontal 2x12s are excellent for live and loud. But the results at low vol are a little muddy compared to the sing...
