Re: Finally happy with my V

If that was cured by the speaker it wasn't the same problem others were experiencing.
It was a thing on the varieties of speakers in the combined collection of the various posters in the thread. many types of 1x12, 2x12, 4x12 and different combinations of all/any.

Re: New 6l6 441 tubes

Fantastic. Any difference you noticed in the low end? Any expanded capability with the 80hz slider?

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

It affects dialling potential with gain and therein lays the night and day part of the act. If you're keeping it bare bones and low key gainwise, its definitely the smoothness you'd notice for real. And the capacity for more bass before flub etc is still handy even at near clean. Cross genre/style/g...

"Dear Santa..."

EDIT: This might not be able to wait for Santa...going in next month.
(Intrigue meter needle is going off scale high and I want to hear more of these, any clips (standard 440s vs 441s) would be amazing...)

Re: Question About Mark V 25 Head

Absolutely. He could maybe have worded that perhaps in a way that would have wouldn't have just addressed the upper limit of volume with it, like you said. 25 is ridiculously good at levels equivalent to humming softly to yourself. Even the Big V in 90w can still kick some serious arse,at low vol ev...

Re: Question About Mark V 25 Head

Yes. It'll be fine. The volume controls can get the amp with ripping tone down to whisper levels. Really handy for any stealth rocking situation even your condo situ. To be honest the wattage more affects the way the amp drives, 10w or 25w can be brutally loud or whisper quiet. Its all down to you a...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Thats the thing: Theres zero risk of technical foreknowledge corrupting experience via expectation. Its an objective thing that works for all (After some dialling relearning for you new fav tones) Whether or not you can name resistors on sight or if you're the least technical guy on the block: It wo...

Re: Upgrading from Mark V 25 to Mark V

I have both. The pluses: Channel 1's cleans are excellent even at ridiculous volume with regular or Fat. And the Tweed modes amazing at any vol. Channel 2 Crunch is great, also have Edge and Mark I modes as extra light-extra dark/thick options respectively. These modes are also more traditional amp ...

Re: Sound loss across all three channels

Chassis removal time, then packing and addressing it, then a hopefully relatively short wait for repairs and merciful billing are in thine future for sure.

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

I don't remember V6 on the V being anything that made me want to keep it there. It think it caused less gain, but didn't have the effect that V7 (Phase inverter) did, IIRC V7 or not at all, for me as far as swapping out beyond the V4 slot swap goes. V7 made everything seem richer and more 3D soundin...

Re: Sound loss across all three channels

Seconded. If its not the tubes, not the fuse, then its bite-the-big-one time: Tech servicing.
