Re: I don't love my Mark V

Thats why theres a big external graphic EQ on top of the amp, it ALL coming from the hands, right? 8) Seriously though: Its true that its a 'what you put in to it' thing too, but some of it IS actually what you're putting it out through too. This is why we use Boogies instead of Line6 spider stuff. :p

Re: Looking for Enter Sandman tone settings on Mark 35.

Sure. Treble 9, gain 7-9 Mid 0, Bass 3,Prescence 2, Mark IV mode, 35w watt mode, graphic settings 240 and 2200 near top of slider, 80 and 6600 a slider width below them, 750 near to all the way off at the bottom. (The EMGs if you use them will probably require a little less gain but if its regular g...

Re: I don't love my Mark V

I did wonder if the el34s would 'mid it up/de-rumble' a bit more on MK1... would you say thats the case, Wayne?

Re: Please help identify a Mark III!

Looks like it could be black, purple or blue stripe, from how it looks in that darkened lighting. Definitely not red or green looking to me.
Could use a shot of above the power cord with a torch on it, so we can see the colour of the stripe.

Re: I don't love my Mark V

Hahaha They are a bit marvellous. Can recommend a 90w and 35/25w pairing too. Next best thing! (Minus the inablity to have two Tweed/Edge/Mark I modes...plenty of combinations and/or variants in same-voicing-setting there though..!)

Re: I don't love my Mark V

Sorry man. Didnt do the 34s thing when i had it. I've been 6L6 all the way. But I remember that bias switcher being there, and always checking it was still in 6L6 position after any transport, despite the collar/shroud around it. Beyond that we'll have to throw that open to players who USED that swi...

Re: I don't love my Mark V

Try moving that V6 12at7 to V7...! (Phase inverter) You may get some more gain and have the tone you speak of, but the 3d ness (and maybe the way it hits the power section) seems better IMHO.

If you look at the spare tubes, behind them are they guy's gold teeth, one of his kidneys and his soul.

Congrats on your pickup!!!!

Somebody's loss was indeed your gain (and we're talking Mesa levels of gain) there, no mistake!

Re: Izzy Stradlin GNR AFD tone - Which color MK III?

Could be anything up to the Red stripe. (Black/No stripe-Purple or red stripes) if they came out in order...its an 87 album.. so I'd guess it was either of those three..?)

Re: OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

Hi, This was another thread here and I'll admit that I'm digging these settings for now. A bit non-standard but as always, dial in with your ears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO-1jVVCLMQ No idea how accurate this is for obtaining IIc+ tone, but it is a great crunchy big tone for sure. All setti...

Nice one!
A great move that'll have you covered for great tone at 'Quiet practice' level, 'Showing it's teeth' level or 'Structural damage to the surrounding county' level. Congratulations..! 8)
