Are fetrons still in production somewhere?

Advice sought re downsizing

I need to be honest - my MlIC+ Simul-class is too much weight and power for my needs anymore. I’m not getting any younger, I’m never going to play Madison Square Gardens or big arenas. It’s just too much amp. The V:35 is more usable to me, but I know I could never replace the IIC+, so this would be ...

Re: Incarnations of the Mark 1 amp?

I have a friend who factory ordered a 1x15 Mark I back in the 70’s. He said one of the preamp tube sockets had some sort of solid state device called a “Fetron” and that’s what gave the early Mark I’s their sound. The amp came from the factory with the Fetron. Anybody heard of this thing? I presume ...

Re: Attenuator recommendations for a Mark II

I can’t run my Mark IIC+ without an attenuator in any kind of home or performance situation. Master on 1.5 is too loud for most bars, etc. I use a Scholz Power Soak. I’d consider a THD 8-ohm model if I needed the line out. This is the main reason I’m considering a Mark V:35. The Mark II is just too ...

Re: Favorite Overdrive/Distortion pedal

I’ll add my preference for a Rat when it comes to straight OD/Distortion pedal. I had found a mod for my Rat where one of the resistors was cut out, which gave it a little more gradual climb to complete saturation. I now use a Nocturne Ubangi Stomp, which is a Rat circuit with internal switches for ...

Celestion Neo in a Five:35?

I like the Celestion G12 in my MkIIC+ but I’m trying to put together a lighter weight rig

Has anybody tried the Celestion Neo Creamback in a Five:35? Any thoughts or sound samples? Looking for a thick, warm sound on both clean and lead modes

I don't know the answer, but I’ll follow this to find out. We might have to call Boogie support

Does the Maverick have any kind of a step down switch for lowering output power?

Re: Annoying bass thump with pick attack - Subway Rocket

I’ve had this same problem with Princeton Reverbs, especially with a certain Telecatser I have that has a Charlie Christian pickup in the neck. I suspected it was the voltages in the phase inverter circuit (PR is notoriously unstable), but I never confirmed that. The amp worked fine with other guita...

Maverick 2x12 = Mesa’s version of a Vox AC30?

I found a used Maverick today. Didn’t plug it in, but examined it. 2x12 Celestions, 4xEL-84 in Class A power. Is it voiced to be a little Vox-y?
