Re: Simul Class C+

Great link. Thanks! I wonder what a SC would sound like if engaged, would only run the inner pair. Off topic, anyone know how to install a bias pot in a C+ ? I've been reading up on MPD and biasing. The average MPD is 75% on power tubes. Some ppl think that's to high for Boogies and makes them sound...

Re: My Mark IV is picking up radio stations

I know that this is a very old thread but I struggled with the same issue except I would get this Erie Latin church preaching coming through. It mainly happened at night because AM stations are pumping out more wattage then. My solution was simply cables.

Re: Simul Class C+

I have tried many combinations of tubes. I'm currently using Sylvania 415's in inner sockets with 34's in outer. I have yet to hear any difference. But, soooo many things come into play. Pick, fingers.... All the way down to speakers. Something that I didn't factor in is that I don't crank it up eno...

Simul Class C+

Forgive me if this has been addressed. I've had my DRG for a very long time and I never pursued this. People with Simul Class rave over the tone but with mine, when I engage SC, it just boosts the volume a little. Nothing to rave about. What am I missing here? Did I get a lemon OT? You would think a...

Re: Possible 290 problems.

Don't know about the tranny, but that plastic clip is a flaw in the design. With mine, all three green 6 volt leads burned. I went and removed clip and soldered all leads directly to pcb. All is fine.

Re: simul class 2:ninety clipping?

Greetings, I would shy away from Euro tube. Some people love JJ's. With my experience from them, the tubes work fine for a few months then frat out.

Re: MkII C+ reverb question

Yes, I checked out a MKIII schematic. Looks real close to a C+. I read that the Rhythm 2 when pulled sounds very close to a C+. Does anyone know why the 120pf cap going to the return on a C+ was removed after August 1984? And what does it do? My C+ still has it. I see that the MKIII has a 10k resist...

Re: MkII C+ reverb question

IMO, i think that Mike , Doug and Randall should have had the circuits better designed for the C+. But it probably was due to the RP11A Preamp board. I dont like how the verb and lead drive share tubes. C+'s V3 = 1/2 lead drive/verb return, V4 = 1/2 lead drive/ verb driver. I wish they had their own...

Re: MkII C+ reverb question

Thanx for the reply. I upgraded my verb with new tank, cables and pot last year. I liked it. it made a noticable difference. but recently, something happened, i do not know what i did but the verb is way out there. Kinda thin and raspy. I'll just keep the thing off or get a pedal like you said if i ...

Re: MkII C+ reverb question

Hello. I have a C+ as well . I know this a very old thread but I need to ask, there are two black wires going to return jack. One from reverb pot and the other one that's in that larger two conductor grey wire going to the other end of the 150k resistor on preamp board. And there's another short lea...

Re: MKIIC+ voltages

Thanks for the reply! Yes, that's with all tubes in and powered up. Gotcha on the red plating. I'm currently running two JJ's 6Ca7's in the outer, when I bounce around and put in a couple of old Sylvania 415's, wow, do they get hot!. The 6Ca7's run much cooler. Your input makes me feel at ease. Reme...

MKIIC+ voltages

Hello. I have a 1984 C+ DRG . Does anyone know what the ballpark voltages should be? My B+ is 522v, C is 507v, D is 497v and D+ is 491v. The plate voltages for power tubes are 525v . And all of the plate voltages are running high on preamp plates. Years ago I recall measuring the plate voltages on t...

Re: Mark III bass control question

I was wondering about the same thing with my C+ 's mid pot. I had this amp since 1984 and the mid pot seemed to have no affect till recently. When I lowered the treble pot, I then heard a change with the mid pot. Also, my bass pot is very subtle too. But the bass shift , I can definitely hear it.

Re: Tone stack caps in C+

Hello JR32, how are you? Thanks for the reply. I would have sent you an email but I thought that you may have been busy with your studies. Yes, I purchased ceramic discs too. It is relatively easy but that 10meg resistor may be in the way plus the potentiometer side of the drops is really tight. Abo...

Tone stack caps in C+

Greetings. I have a1984 DRG C+ and have been tweaking the tone stack caps. Haven't replaced any yet although i have two micas for the treble and treble shift and the other 715P's drops . Question: when inside, i removed the old silicone that bound the two 250pf and 750pf's and straightened them upri...
