Re: Anybody got some settings to try for a 7 string?

I have an Ibanez RG 7 string and I use CH3 IIC+ mode in Bright with the Treble and Mid at 12:00 and the Bass at about 9:30. The Presence and Gain at about 1:30 and the GEQ in the “V”, of course. This was similar to the sound on Dark Eternal Night (Dream Theater). BUT!,... Not until I lowered the act...

Re: MKV EQ switching issue - please help

If you unplug the foot switch, do the switches on the front panel work correctly?
It might help narrow down the problem to the foot switch, cable, or switches on the panel.

Re: Problems with your Mark V...it's you.

In all fairness it should be mentioned that while it is true that the Mark V should get you very close to just about any sound out there, there are SO MANY other things that go into the equation of the sound. ONE of those things is the player, including all the nuances from the pick and the attack o...

Re: Mark V question for newbie

Given that I have no interest in playing for a living and so my future consists of the weekly classic rock and blues jam with friends and possibly playing a few songs as a guest in a small venue, I dont need anything like a Mark V.; 90W is overkill. I would think a MKV 25 or 35 would work because o...

Re: Just bought a Mark V 90 watt combo. Have some questions not answered in the manual.

Let me first say that I can’t answer any of your questions with certainty but I will offer my 2 cents (I have had my MV for about 5 years now). I don’t think any of the switch changes require standby or shutdown. Some may cause a pop which I always found uncomfortable or made me nervous but most of ...

Re: Dropped my MarkV

Yeah. Dude, the title caused me despair until I read your whole story. I splurged for the Tasmanian Blackwood for mine and that was even harder to think about if it had broken apart.
Anyway, glad your amp is ok!

Re: Problem with my FX Loop?

Yeah, it could be a tube. I don’t remember which one powers the loop but the diagram should show it. Perhaps try swapping that one out with a spare if you have one. If you don’t have a spare, try swapping with a CH3 tube or reverb tube and see what happens. If you suspect a bad power tube, try 45 W ...

Re: Problem with my FX Loop?

Some ideas... For the loop, try adjusting the FX loop level (knob on the back). You may need to turn it down a little. If I remember correctly, it is a little hot if set it the center detent, especially for pedals that are designed for instrument level signals. Are the pedals powered by isolated pow...

Re: FX Loop light on my Mark V ON all the time

There should be a switch on the back right beside the send/return jacks. Check your channel volumes first though because they become the “final” volume control for each channel because the Output and Solo controls are also bypassed.

Re: Slave out for recording signal?

I tried the slave and didn’t like it. First, you need a cabinet sim and second, it seemed noisy to me. Might work better for you though.
I ended up getting a Cab Clone.

Re: Mark V 25 seems dead

Great that you were able to do it yourself. I have built a couple of tweed clones and done some mods on them but wouldn’t trust myself to dig in to my MV.

It sounds like this problem, which is some power supply diodes...

Re: Rewiring a Mesa 2x12

Do you have a basic multi-meter? If not, you can buy one for $20 or less. Very handy for continuity checks and will allow you to check the resistance of the cabinet once wired up.

Re: Mark V, JVM4 observations... Thoughts?

...With the JVM, in the OD channels, I have the bass AND the mid both almost at zero and still can't help feeling I wish I could still cut more mid out. It still has that "boxy" or "nasal" sound, if that makes sense... I wanted to revive this thread for a couple of notes... I still favor my MV by q...
