Re: Mark V 25 seems dead

Great that you were able to do it yourself. I have built a couple of tweed clones and done some mods on them but wouldn’t trust myself to dig in to my MV.

Re: Mark V 25 seems dead

It sounds like this problem, which is some power supply diodes...

Re: Rewiring a Mesa 2x12

Do you have a basic multi-meter? If not, you can buy one for $20 or less. Very handy for continuity checks and will allow you to check the resistance of the cabinet once wired up.

Re: Mark V, JVM4 observations... Thoughts?

...With the JVM, in the OD channels, I have the bass AND the mid both almost at zero and still can't help feeling I wish I could still cut more mid out. It still has that "boxy" or "nasal" sound, if that makes sense... I wanted to revive this thread for a couple of notes... I still favor my MV by q...

Re: Problems with your Mark V...it's you.

In all fairness it should be mentioned that while it is true that the Mark V should get you very close to just about any sound out there, there are SO MANY other things that go into the equation of the sound. ONE of those things is the player, including all the nuances from the pick and the attack o...

Question about hardwood cabinet finishes....

I'll post this here because it's the only sub-forum I read and post in. Hope it's ok... I have a Mark V and 2x12 Vertical Recto cabinet with the Tasmanian Blackwood (love it... favorite amp). I also have another combo 2x12 amp from another popular manufacturer which is also a very nice amp but it co...

Re: developed noise in Mark V at startup

I don't do wholesale tube replacements trying to fix problems without diagnosing the problem. It's usually not the tubes, and when it is a tube, it's usually only 1. Just to clarify, I didn’t mean swapping all the tubes, just the power tubes or even just one pair of power tubes, which could help id...

Excellent way of describing it. Wish I had thought of it that way. 8)

Re: Volume Levels in Channel 1 Modes

I would say the volume difference in different modes of ch 1 is normal. The reason is that, as each mode adds more gain, the signal starts to clip slightly but is still actually getting noticeably louder. The reason you don't notice it in ch 2 or 3 is because the signal is well into the clipping rea...

I play 5 to 10 hrs a week and start getting crackles after about a year. Put in a new set and see if it helps. Even if it doesn’t, you will have a spare set ready to go.
