Mine? You can see it here. S/N K33X.

Also in the last year I changed my mind. While I do prefer Simul for leads, overall I realized I prefer pentode for rhythms.

Re: Is an upgraded c+ a legit c+?

There's a much bigger difference in power sections, what tubes you're using, even what transformer you have vs. whether it was an original or an upgrade.

Re: NAD Mark III long head blue stripe

12AX7. Mark III reverb is super weak. Even after Mike does his reverb mod it's still kind of weak. Best thing you can do is get a reverb pedal.

Re: NAD Mark III long head blue stripe

Cool.

Mark IIIs have so much hair I think they work better with G12T75s than they do with V30s.

Re: Is an upgraded c+ a legit c+?

If someone is questioning it, produce the service paperwork and / or do the loop test and put it to bed.

We all know factory C+ are "worth" more, even though there's no more difference in tone than there is just between amp to amp.

Re: NAD Mark III long head blue stripe

It's a safe mismatch. Also, if your new head is a HRG, and you flip it to 60W mode, then it's actually a correct match.

I used to have a Marshall 1960 cab, I just re-wired it to a pair of 8 ohm jacks ("dual mono") then using two leads it was a correct match.

Re: chassis mounting screws

The short chassis use a #8-32 screw in 1 1/4". The 300 series use #10-24. I have one here that was tapped out to #10-32, I'm assuming the originals stripped.

Re: Simul Class C+

My two 105s were 505v & 515v. My KRG PT is 540v! Just run good tubes & don't sweat it.

Re: New Amp Day Mark III Coliseum first one made?

I think it's going to be hard for any of us to tell where it was built in the timeline specifically. All Colis are awesome, though. :)

That said, if you ever decide to sell it please let me know.

Re: Simul Class C+

The outer tubes are Class A on SC amps, except for the KRGs where it's the inner pair. When you pull the chassis what code is written on the side? Can you provide pictures?

Re: Simul Class C+

Think of it this way. In the SC amps, the SC Class A tubes (in Triode except for the MKIII green stripe) provide the tone. The inner A/B pair just provide more horsepower when engaged. Since it's triode, it'll be more soft & smooth than a pentode amp. Here's a couple examples I have- DR C+ (triode) ...

Re: Mark III blue stripe vs Mark IV??

I had Mike B. C30 mod one of my blue stripes. It still did not sound like my red stripe. FWIW.

I've about had my fill of Marks, but a red stripe Coli is one that I'd still like to own some day. Or maybe a no stripe Coli.
