Re: external switching cables

Hi, I use the voodoo lab and it works a charm. Standard 1/4" patch cables or guitar cables work fine. Do you need anything else to get this to work? I'd assumed Helix into the voodoo via midi and then just the 1/4 jacks to the channels on the Mark V but reading eslewhere it seems to imply you need ...

Re: Thoughts on Modern Pedal Boards

Yeah the GSP1101 really does sound good with the MARK 5. Granted, it's no AXEFX but what it does do it does very well. It can also be tweaked to run a modeled amp sim in parallel with the MARK 5 preamp so i get some really thick crunch tones! Happy days!!!

Re: Thoughts on Modern Pedal Boards

Hi,

I run a gsp1101 with my 90w and she sings. Not the most feature packed unit but 1u rack space and very transparent. Used to run a gt8 and it sucked the life out of the amp. The gsp1101 does the few things I need it to very well.

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Hi all, Long time no post.... work sucks hey! Still more than happy with my Mk V. At7's in V4 and V7, couple hardware mods and she's singing like a bird released for me. Biggest difference is defo in the At7's though. Thank you again APEMAN and everyone who's contributed to this massive thread, this...

Re: Rewiring a Mesa 2x12

Hi, without knowing exactly which parts of the mono jack the four tabs are connected too ( sorry, can't see it clearly enough to make out from the pic on my tablet) I wouldn't like to say either way. Not familiar enough with that particular jack. Hopefully someone else will chime in for you. Sorry a...

Re: Rewiring a Mesa 2x12

Dont quote me on this, the pic is fairly hard to see on my tablet. I believe you're correct in swapping A and B or C and D. But, im pretty sure you will lose the stereo capability of the cab and will only be able to use it in mono. If you do this then try to use it in stereo you will be shorting the...

Re: Mark V as a low volume practice rig

I personally think the master volume control is great on the Mark V. Can go very low without losing too much at all. Makes a great multi purpose amp for gigging and low level practice. A little dialling to suit for sure but nothing drastic. A friend of mines DSL on the other hand, although very nice...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

I agree whole-heartedly with you two. The Mark V has has more than enough gain for ANY genre. True heavy is not a Line 6 Spider on the insane channel! Can't think of anything worse to be honest. True heavy is setup and technique, just think of how many bands still to this day use Jcm 800's! Nowhere ...

Re: Volume loss when engaging effects loop

My guess would be tubes, V6 is effects return, or possibly dirty pot or jacks.

I believe all contributions are relevant at this stage. No plans to mod my amp any further as of yet. Loving it too much as is. Was just curious as to yours.

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Here I can express in words until I can get a video or recording of this..... C39 removal, done that a while back. Corrected GEQ with 3.3k jumper, still have it. Jumper on V6A circuit, removed that a while back. Stock tubes except for V4, hard to get away from that mod, JAN/Philips 12AT7. OTR speak...

Re: Recording questions - two channels, one take

I think what I was hearing in the two tracks was a phasing thing. I moved one track ever so slightly and could change the tone, and I moved it a little bit more and the tone would change. It sounded like a.., wait for it... a phaser effect. Well, there you go. Learn something new every day. Might j...
