Re: Mark III - Keep the bass down or lose your mind like I d

Yep, definitely gotta keep the bass knob down. I have mine set on 2-3 usually and just use the low end slider to dial in the required amount of thump.

Re: Mark III Cabinet / Speaker ? Vintage 30's??

I run my Mark III (blue) through a Carvin 4x12 with V30s and it sounds great to me. I keep the presence very low (1-2 range) and there is no harshness at all.

Re: Mesa Boogie Low Watt Amps - Any Recommendations?

Another +1 to the Simulclass combo suggestion. I run my Mark III (blue) mostly in Class A mode (15 watts) and I love it!

Congratulations on the new amp! I love my Mark III too, so many tones that you can get out of it.

Re: Newbie. Thank you! MkIIc+ Issues.

The bass pot set too high would be my guess as well. I have a Mark III which is not terribly different than the Mark IIC+ and it definitely doesn't need an overdrive pedal if it's set right. It has more gain than any amp I've ever played, and it's sharp/tight. No "boom" too it, unless you want it.

Re: Recording with Mark III

I bought a Pyle PDMIC78 (cheap clone of an SM57) on Amazon that I use to mic my cabs and record right into a USB port into Audacity. It works well enough for me to get sound into a file and only cost about $15. Sooner or later I'll get a real SM57 but this was a nice easy way to learn to record.

Re: Mark iii at Bedroom Levels?

Yes, you can use a Mark III combo at bedroom levels. You can just use the EQ sliders to tailor the sound for lower volumes. It won't have the same "soul" and feel as if it were up louder, but it will still sound great and will get the job done. When I run mine at sane volume, the EQ curve is a lot d...

Re: Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier w/ Digitech Rp500 Distortion

Personally, I would not use the RP500 for anything other than modulation/reverb/delay effects. Digital distortion simply does not compare with a high gain tube amp like the Dual Rectifier. You might want to try adding an EQ in the fx loop to and use that to fine tune your sound. Mesa makes a 5-band ...

Re: Looking to buy a superstrat - advice need

Another +1 to Charvel. I don't own any but I have played a few over the years and I really liked them. Always wanted one but just never got around to it. Jackson is another good option, though you have to watch out for certain year ranges and models.

Re: ABYing Two Different Amps?

I used to use my stereo chorus pedal as a splitter. It was fine for cleans and lower gain, but as soon as volume or gain got anywhere near "fun", there was way too much squealing and the amps were out of phase. Give the Radial Twin Cities a try when you get your ABY, it works great and removes the g...

Re: ABYing Two Different Amps?

Sounds like a great combo you have going on there! I am currently ABYing my 2 Jet City 20 watt heads through my Jet City stereo 4x12 (with Eminence Legend copies) and it sounds awesome. The JCA22H head has a bright, biting modern metal tone and the JCA22 Custom head is darker, deeper and more Britis...
