Re: Dropped my MarkV

Yep.... The big RC earthquakes. Mark 5, cabinets and the EQ section went down. My studio monitors stayed up on their stands. I took them down before the big one on the 5th of July. Even my Marshall head on top of the 2x12 cab went down. But no problems. But it spit all my CDs on the floor. I put the...

Re: Dropped my MarkV

Well my Mark V was abused earthquakes. It fell about 5 feet along with the cabinets it was sitting on. Not a scratch, fired up and has been working fine since July when the earthquakes hit.

Re: Purchasing Full Set of Tubes for Mark V

I try to replace my tubes at least once every two years. I also have a tube tester. I do not test the tubes to see if there is a tube that needs to be replaced. I replace all the tubes. I then test all the old tubes. If there is one that looks weak I'll put it in a bag with the other weak tubes. Rem...

Re: Mark V front panel text fading

For those of us with a warm spot for the tube driven monsters there may be hope. With all these amp emulators coming out the prices of the old tube amps may drop..... LOL....yea..right.

Lessons learned. Always buy never sell.

1957 ES125T Gibson.... 1980 Tobacco burst American Stratocaster... 1979 Fender Delux ... 1997 Mesa DC-5 head and 4X12 slant (metal grill) Mesa Cab... 1980 Ibanez Tube screamer pedal...

All equipment I used to own. My list of regrets.

Re: Mark V as a low volume practice rig

It is my studio/practice rig. I don't run in 10 watt mode. I run on 90 watt. Turn the channel Master down to just below 9am. then adjust the Output. The amp can operate at very low volume levels.

Re: Mark V reverb mount

On most amps it is mounted on the bottom and it is covered. I have a Fender Deluxe and it is basically in a vinyl bag attached to the bottom of the amp. You may want to put wheels on that also. It's going to be heavy.

I have the Mark V and I use 2X12 vertical cabinets I love love love the wheels.

Re: Making life easier with stickers marking knob positions

Adjust with your ears "Weed Hopper". Your eyes can deceive you. The only time you can depend on your eyes is "the wiggle". If the cute girl butt stays firmly planted in the seat when you play your tone is not good. If the girl butt do "the wiggle" around the dance floor your tone is good.

Re: Need to darken the clean channel just a touch...

Darken the clean channel just a touch? Adjust the "Tone" knob... Or adjust the tone knob on a new guitar in the music store, buy the guitar and that can be your darker tone.

Re: Recording questions - two channels, one take

This is a very interesting post. I have an awesome live sound and figured I would just place microphones in front of the cabinets and pretty much be able to get the tone recorded. I use a CabClone in my rig for the line level send to the stereo part of the system. So when recording I ran a line leve...

Re: Need to darken the clean channel just a touch...

Buy a guitar that has the tone you want through your amp.

See how easy that is. No need to change the tube. Perfectly justified guitar purchase.

Re: Mark V front panel text fading

Just because something is old or it has a defect doesn't mean it's a collectible. If something is old and has a defect nobody may want it. What do you call a musician without a girlfriend?................. Homeless........ And the Homeless aint got no money to buy food, cloths...and not that amp wit...

Re: Carbon copy delay in fx loop of mark v:35

What version of the Carbon Copy do you have? There are two versions. The first version (these are versions not that version 2 is an upgrade) the second version is much more crisp on the high end. The first version is the one I use and I use two of them in the loop. I actually specifically got the Ca...

Re: Volume pedal in the loop

When I first got my Mark V...quite a few years ago... I tried just about everything to try to keep the volume down. The Mark V all on it's own can be played at low volume levels. No pedals, no attenuators no trickery. The Mark V is not designed like the other amps I had experience with so I tried ev...
