Re: EH 6CA7

I do like the EL34. I actually liked every channel; the tones were just not so tame and it sounds like everything is just pushed harder. The clean channel was a little gritty but not like distorted or driven more like the sound was punchy and being held back. The drive channels were as though the gu...

Yea... That Virus causing us to stay at home...

I am really getting the bug (so to speak) to play out live again. It has been over two years not stepping on stage and getting, as John Mayor said "That feeling of flying". I'm a fan (small case) of John but I would listen to many other guitarists over him. Much of what I have seen of him live reall...

Re: Is this safe to do?

Yes. Tubes being perfect. I have a Tube tester just like the one in the link below. I'll test a brand new tube and get the reading, when I test my used tubes, if they are not pretty darn close to the new tube reading I don't keep them. I got extreemly lucky and worked for an electronics Engineer who...

Re: Is this safe to do?

Yes there is the "Off" position between "Full Power" and "Variac" but the "Standby" is recomended when turning the amp off to let the tubes warm up before playing and cool off after playing so by default you are turning the amp "Off" to switch from one to the other. So I use and recomend using the "...

Re: The one tone I can’t seem to get

Channel 2 seems to be the odd one when trying to get tones it was not designed for. I always have to remember this amp was not designed like an amp with three channels. It's nine amps three at a time. My first thought would be guitar. Single coilpickups maybe some that are on the low power side. Twe...

The Mark V in general.

After purchasing the amp my initial thought was is this what I really wanted? The sound of the amp was just so different. My guitars sounded so different from what I had been using. I had been gigging heavy 6 or 7 nights a month. I was using a Boogie F-30 doing a stereo rig into the power section of...

I thought this again should be brought up. I just reread it and I got a good laugh.

Re: Dropped my MarkV

Yep.... The big RC earthquakes. Mark 5, cabinets and the EQ section went down. My studio monitors stayed up on their stands. I took them down before the big one on the 5th of July. Even my Marshall head on top of the 2x12 cab went down. But no problems. But it spit all my CDs on the floor. I put the...

Re: Dropped my MarkV

Well my Mark V was abused earthquakes. It fell about 5 feet along with the cabinets it was sitting on. Not a scratch, fired up and has been working fine since July when the earthquakes hit.

Re: Purchasing Full Set of Tubes for Mark V

I try to replace my tubes at least once every two years. I also have a tube tester. I do not test the tubes to see if there is a tube that needs to be replaced. I replace all the tubes. I then test all the old tubes. If there is one that looks weak I'll put it in a bag with the other weak tubes. Rem...

For those of us with a warm spot for the tube driven monsters there may be hope. With all these amp emulators coming out the prices of the old tube amps may drop..... LOL....yea..right.

Lessons learned. Always buy never sell.

1957 ES125T Gibson.... 1980 Tobacco burst American Stratocaster... 1979 Fender Delux ... 1997 Mesa DC-5 head and 4X12 slant (metal grill) Mesa Cab... 1980 Ibanez Tube screamer pedal...

All equipment I used to own. My list of regrets.

Re: Mark V as a low volume practice rig

It is my studio/practice rig. I don't run in 10 watt mode. I run on 90 watt. Turn the channel Master down to just below 9am. then adjust the Output. The amp can operate at very low volume levels.

Re: Mark V reverb mount

On most amps it is mounted on the bottom and it is covered. I have a Fender Deluxe and it is basically in a vinyl bag attached to the bottom of the amp. You may want to put wheels on that also. It's going to be heavy.

I have the Mark V and I use 2X12 vertical cabinets I love love love the wheels.

Re: Making life easier with stickers marking knob positions

Adjust with your ears "Weed Hopper". Your eyes can deceive you. The only time you can depend on your eyes is "the wiggle". If the cute girl butt stays firmly planted in the seat when you play your tone is not good. If the girl butt do "the wiggle" around the dance floor your tone is good.
