Re: Who is gigging their Express 5:25+ ?

Haven't gigged regularly for a couple of years but did so with my 5-25+. Pretty much the same as King and the clean channel takes pedals so well and I like the flavor and the OD's I used. I did do a one hour festival gig last month and just to keep things uncomplicated just plugged straight in using...

Re: Express series being cancelled?

Well maybe the price point versus the competition in the market they were going after although to me it's a great price for a Mesa. The last band I was in about the third practice the other guitar player shows up with one saying he just loved the tone I was getting so much he had to get one.

Re: Noise gate to remove hiss on clean channel, upgrade to p

5:25+ I have a Zoom G3 in my effects loop. I use it for an occasional flange for modulation, my delay, my tuner and my noise reduction. On my board it stays in the 3 stompbox display mode not rolling patches. The Zoom ZN noise reduction is really excellent and transparent and I have to have it just ...

Re: SETTING EXPRESS 5:25 PLUS GIG VOLUMES

You could put a volume box or a volume pedal in the effects loop. It can only cut volume so you'd set the two masters higher than normal then dial back with the volume box/pedal to a home level and up when more overall/both channel volume needed. I just adjust both for the venue.

Re: I think I just fried my amp.

Can't imagine why that would fry the power amp and why the other channel would still work if it did.

Re: single coil limitations

The Strat's bridge pickup is notoriously weak. A lot of players won't use it with any amp! I grew up on Strats (I've had close to a dozen of them since buying my first in 1986) and don't have a problem with it. There are a few solutions- one is to use a hotter single coil pickup, another is to put ...

Re: Are you using pedals with the amp for clean sounds?

I generally use the Blues channel for cleans and then the cruch channel . Gives just a slightly warmest clean. I run pedals into that from low gain to mid gain, the crunch channel for my highest gain. Since the other pedals add some gain I use a Xotic SP compressor set to low and about and even wet/...

Re: Tones are volumes. Turn them down and you've got no volu

Yes they are very active tone controls especially the treble. They advise setting you treble and gain first and then adjust bass and mid. Mine are all set between 11-2 and then use contour and sliders to fine tune as the come just before sending to the power section.

Re: Express Plus - Mesa Boogie's Sleeper Amp?

Hi all. Another happy 5:25+ owner here (head w/ 1x12 Lonestar cab). I'd like to point out another great feature of the 5:25+ that many other popular Mesa amps cant touch: the gorgeous, sweet and nuanced tone of the single-ended 5 watt setting. I spend most of my time at 5 watts which is plenty loud...

Re: Express Plus - Mesa Boogie's Sleeper Amp?

For low volume, I bring the faders well below the halfway mark. It is like an "attenuation" amd keep my volume in the same position for band playing. That acts like a "volume box". I ran an actual attenuator, a THD on on my Blues Deluxe and it was a hassle to use and carry and cost $350. It runs af...

Re: 5:25+ Speaker Suggestions

I've had my 5:25 Plus for 14 month now and have not had the urge to swap out the V30. In my past "Fender" days with Blues Jrs. and Hot Rod Dlx I switched speakers every other month on a tone quest. I think Mesa got it right with the V30, now I may be temped to try a WGS Veteran 30 someday. The Expr...

Sweetwater has my 5:25+ with the black tolex and grill for $1349 USD, the same price I paid two years ago.

Re: Express Plus - Mesa Boogie's Sleeper Amp?

Bingo My DRRI and BDRI and BJer have been gathering dust since I got mine a couple of years back. My normal setup is the Blues Channel for clean, a fat clean with gain about 9 o'clock and the Crunch channel for a medium crunch with gain at about 12 o'clock. I use pedals on the Blues Channel to get i...
