Re: Mark V + external power amp for quick EL34/6L6 switching?

Thanks for the info!

About the FX loop, will it still work using the slave out?

Re: Mark V + external power amp for quick EL34/6L6 switching?

But the head-tracker or loadbox is required if I run a EL34 power amp from the slave output of Mark V? I thought I had just to plug the power amp in the Slave out and the cabinet in the power amp. Actually, my cabinet have 2 inputs.Should I plug the power amp in one, and the MKV on the other? I don'...

Mark V + external power amp for quick EL34/6L6 switching?

Hello, After almost 5 years playing my Mark V with stock tubes I finally tried it with EL34 tubes and I am very happy with the results. IMHO depending on the guitar, pickups and style, the EL34 is a perfect match, and the same is true for the 6L6. That is why I’m thinking how cool would be if I coul...

Re: Weird behavior (blue light) on V8 and V9 after replacing Rectifier Tube.

Problem solved. It was the sets of EL34 STR 450 NOS I recently bought from Mesa. I have just tried two other pairs os EL34's from a different brand and the amp played fine. Will send them for replacement.

Re: Weird behavior (blue light) on V8 and V9 after replacing Rectifier Tube.

Hello, I won't try to fix it myself. I'm only trying to find out if the problem is with the tubes or the amp. This is the first time I try EL34's and I bought 2 brand new STR 450 sets. Too bad that this is happening after all that money was spent in this tubes. Today I replaced the rectifier tube ag...

Weird behavior (blue light) on V8 and V9 after replacing Rectifier Tube.

Hello, The tubes on V8 and V9 on my Mark V started to show a blue/white light and blow the fuse after I replaced the 5U4G rectifier tube that was gone a few days ago. You can see what happens in the picture below. When I switch from standby to ON, both V8 and V9 behave like that at 45/90w and only V...

Re: Making life easier with stickers marking knob positions

You can still adjust with your ears, and when you reach the sweet spot you just open your eyes and write down the exactly knob position. This way is easier when I switch from a single coil strat to a ESP with 81/60 EMG's that use completely different settings.

Making life easier with stickers marking knob positions

Hello, As any MKV owner knows, the amp is very sensitive to different guitars and pickups and it is hard to remember knob settings as they don't have reference markings under the knobs.... until know! I took some measuring and made pre-cut stickers to place under the knobs and EQ sliders, ...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Thanks Mace! The AT7 is already in V4 and the results are excellent as expected!

As for speakers, are guys enjoying more the V30 or C90 with this mode?

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Hello, I have read the first 6 pages of this thread and just ordered a GE 12AT7 (could not find a Jan Philips in my country) to try in V4. I currently use a V30 speaker but i'll also try the C90 that came stock with the MKV combo (I converted to head). Does this mod is equally audible in all 10-45-9...

Re: Best way to set the Mark V for single coil/strats?

Two things that I've learned when tweaking my Mark V for my strat: 1- Crank the volume up. Much harder to achieve great tones at low volumes (that applies for every guitar). 2- For my Fender 57 Reissue Strat, on Ch3 I turn off the EQ. It is easier to work only with the knobs if you are not looking f...

Weak sound, bad tubes?

Hello,

My Mark V head started to sound very weak on overdrive ch2 and ch3 and failing on ch1. Maybe I have bad tube(s)? My amp was bought in 2014 and I only play at home a couple of hours per week. Do you guys think it could be time to replace all tubes? ($$$ $$$)

Thanks!

Re: Foot switch ch3 intermittent not toggling

Problem solved! It was a bad switch. I Had to remove it from the footswitch board and completely disassemble the ch3 switch to check inside it. To anyone which is either a guitar player AND a engineer ( ): very simple mechanism with a metal plate hold by springs on each site. When you pres...
