Re: Mesa Prodigy

First, it's not an all valve amp - it's 1/2 solid state. The preamp EQ and driver are all transistors...combined with tubes. We call this a "Hybrid" amplifier. Second - volume fluctuation I suspect the 2 MOSFET transistors in the phase inverter driver stage need replacing. OR clean / replace the VOI...

Re: Mesa mini 25 buzzing problem

Hi, I posted the original question for this problem, I had the amp checked out by a amp repair guy that i know, he found absolutely nothing wrong with the amp. When by son plug it back in he changed the speaker cab lead, and the buzzing/clicking noise, has gone. Thank you all for your time, and eff...

Re: Mesa mini 25 buzzing problem

Hi, my son has a Mesa Boogie mini rectifier 25, that has developed a buzzing noise from the input transformer area. this is apparent on both channels. All the valves appear to be working properly. Q, is the transformer on it's way out? Q, could it be a faulty valve? Q, or a capacitor, or other fail...

Re: Mesa mini 25 buzzing problem

I'm sorry soundguruman, but how do you know the issues the OP have are the same as what you have researched? The OP is describing a physical audio buzzing coming form the transformer area of the amp, not a signal noise. And just because the issue may be happening in four locations around the world,...

Re: Ground loops (?) - creating feedback at high volume

Hi there, I'm pretty much finished with my rack rebuilt and overall quite happy. Here's what I have in my 8u SKB case right now (wired in this order) Shure QLXD wireless or cable -> Dunlop Wah, TC tuner, [any pedal I feel like using if any] -> Triaxis-> DBX 166XL (used as gate, one channel after th...

Re: Mark IV with Something Oily around Certain Areas

I have a Mark IV 1x12 combo which I have had since around 2007. Purchased it new. I have noticed an oily like substance that is appearing around certain areas like the switches for Class A/B - Class A, the Triode/Pentode switch and some areas around the EQ. Don't know where this is coming from, but...

Re: Mesa mini 25 buzzing problem

Do you have any other place you can take the amp to test it on a different power source? You can also get a outlet tester to check if the outlet is wired properly and giving proper voltage. http://www.amazon.com/Sperry-Instruments-GFI6302-Outlet-Tester/dp/B000RUL2UU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=143132578...

Re: step down transformer for mesa 5:50 plus

Boogie has international transformer, with multi voltage taps.
Unless, it is already installed...
many times the power taps are already there.
A technician should change it over, internally. Check the Mesa service center nearest you.

Re: Mark III power tube red plating

a bad socket or a broken bias voltage path... The audio coupling capacitor between the phase inverter output and the power tube grids is shorted. I'm pretty sure. The original capacitor is rated 400 volt, replace it with 600 volt. These are the 2 coupling capacitors between pins 1 and 6 of the phase...

Re: Nomad Mods - A Visual Reference

I posted this in modern amps but didnt get a reply, so I am posting it here, too. My Nomad 55 combo has developed a hum. Anyone know what could be causing a hum in the red channel? The other two channels are fine. Changed all my tubes thinking that would solve it. Still there. Idea's anyone? Someon...

Re: Nomad Mods - A Visual Reference

I'm new to the forum and want to say thanks for the info. Gonna try these mods but I have one question. I bought the 47pf cap and its a 1kv. Is this cap ok to use or should I go back and order the 50v? 1kv is all they had in stock at the moment. Sorry to bring up an old thread but I dont want to me...
