Re: Need help with my MK IV

Set the switch on both of the Marshall cabinets to 16 ohm mono. Plug a cable from one Mk.4 4 ohm output jack into one cabinet. Plug another, separate cable, from the other Mk.4 4 ohm jack to your second Marshall cabinet. 2 - 4 ohm outputs from a MESA/Boogie tube amplifier, 2 speaker cables, 2 16 ohm...

Re: Walk me through the Studio Preamp "C+" mod...

You'll have to wait for a diffinitive answer but I am fairly sure the power section is the same, or as close as anything there is. I had a Studio Pre amp and I ran it using the effects send into the front input on my Mark IIB. Stand back!!!! Holy sweetness. I found that much much better than using a...

Yep. Well, the numbers are not in sequence, they jump around, the date inside is your best estimate as to when it was made.

Re: Mark IIb mod's, return on investment (i.e. second-hand going rate?)

I've never heard of a ++ mod for a Mark IIB. It would be cool, I think, maybe, maybe not, hard to figure out why? There's so many high gain amps that sound great, a Mark IIB sounds great as a Mark IIB and can go to modern metal with a pedal or two. Pentode and triode? What for? I guess but, same thi...

Re: Problem switching channels on Mark IV

Make sure you use deoxit 5. It is the only thing to use, anything else will ruin the potentiometer.

Re: Metal on a Mark IIB

You are half way there with the built-in GEQ. 8) I tried a few pedals in front and in the loop and found that I liked the front boosted tone better. The best tone I ever had, hands down, was a Mesa Studio Pre Amp in the input, but that was a pain to carry around. You'll need to try different boost a...

Got a good one, nice. They really do shine for all types of music and it's great to know you can "go to grail tone" when you want to!

Re: Fully loaded Mark III Colisuem price?

I've seen them around, selling for $1500, asking $2500. To each their own. I just bought a Quad pre amp and Strategy 400 for $900, actually less, $426.00 & $450.00, it's like having a C+ coli and a Mark III coli in one amp, double the pleasure IMO. I sold my C++ for $3000 and was able to pick up tho...
