You can get a silent fan. Battery operated fans are a great option.

Re: Just bought my first Mesa, a Quad Preamp, struggling to get diverse tones from it.

My Quad does it all! If yours doesn't, it is more than likely in need of service or do like I did and use Deoxit to clean the pots. Some of my pots weren't working so I sent it in to get service but the guy was covid crazed and it sat in his shop for months. I finally got sick of waiting so I got a ...

The Beauty of Mark IV Rhythm 2 ch.

First of all, the Mark series was built to perform live with which means played loud and the Mark IV is no different. One reason the middle channel gets a bad name is that the first and third channels are so so great. If you play at home at low volume, ch. 2 is not really all that fun when you have ...

Re: Solid state power amps?

Recently I passed on a Boogie 50/50 power amp for $300.00 because I have one already. They come up for sale regularly for $400-$500. The 50/50 is stellar and approximately 4.5 times better than a Solid State amp. Here's one listed for $500 on CL. https://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/msg/d/danbury-mesa...

Re: Rectifier 4x12 wiring: anyone go from stock p/s to s/p?

There are good reasons to do things, right and wrong ways to do sh!t, as clear as black and white, one is wiring a cabinet in series parallel not parallel series and here's why. If a speaker heats up and dies while playing and it's wired PS, the whole loop shuts off and your amp sees no load, in a a...

Just tell him you want it for a MarkIV and he'll make it. He will make a higher quality shell if you want with dovetail joints and exotic wood.

Re: Mesa Boogie Studio Pre Mods

I would only trust Mesa Boogie in Petaluma, CA. Before you send it out for mods, the tubes make a huge difference in tone and gain. I also found that if I want to take it into modern metal, I run it through my BBE 822A to act as a Presence control with added tightening of the bass response. Your cho...

Re: New Old Amp Day: Quad

Now that I know the reason, I can live with it but I do find it incredible that Boogie didn't rectify the "problem" and made the Quad preamp consumer ready with balanced outputs. Seems logical that the volumes would be at least in the same ballpark.
