Re: EVM Equipped

I've seen the badges on Mark III special "signature" model combos but they weren't common on Mark II's. It looks like that badge was added as it isn't where the usual ones are located, which is the bottom right.

Re: Boxy ?

There are many factors in determining what causes boxiness in tone, from the room you're in, speaker break-in, guitar pick-up, settings and of course, whether you are comparing amps. A typical speaker break-in period also depends on volume and duration. If you play in a band, after the first practic...

Re: Help! Mesa Boogie Mark Five:35 High Gain/Volume Squealing

Try a different head to speaker cable. A few years ago I bought a 5 foot livewire brand 10 gauge cable and I got a new thicker, quieter tone. It won't hurt your wallet buying a nice speaker cable and I bet you'll be impressed with the upgrade like I was and wonder how a $30.00 cable could make such ...

Re: Just need some guidance on my first MESA.

The Fillmore has a lot of gain, but not over-the-top like the JP2C. Where I live, I'm able to get really good deals on amps, including Boogies used. Buying used, I was able get most every amp made by Boogie and Marshall. My Boogie rig cost me $900.00 and I bought it off of eBay. It is a Quad Preamp ...

Re: Just need some guidance on my first MESA.

It all depends on what you want as far as versatility. There's a Boogie for all types, from complicated (Mark IV) to super simple (Fillmore 25). For high gain with options, it's the JP2C. It is so so good at high gain you'll flip. The Mark V is very versatile for rock and metal but the JP2C goes fur...

Re: Mark V or Badlander

You'll never ever get a tube amp to be as tight as a Solid State amp, that's the trade off for the feel and harmonic texture people talk about after playing a tube amp. Dimebag talked about that all the time because he was asked that question, all the time. I've owned a Mark V before, it was great b...

Re: How does the effects loop work in the Quad/Studio preamp?

I don't use the effect loop, it's too compressed sounding using the return and master volume, for my taste. Instead, I go from the send to my loop effects and then to the power amp. That last stage, master volume is a tone sucker, whereas when I go straight from the send it very open sounding. I lea...

Re: Mesa Boogie Mike Bendinelli Mod ? see pics

Mike is meticulous is his work method. I've never seen a gooped-up part in one of Boogie's amps, let alone bad soldering. There is both MB & RCS initials on most earlier Mark amps to show either Mike or Randall signed off on the final inspection. I suspect there may be some DW initialed amps also de...

Here is what I say is the best Rectifier tone ever. Korn mixes in a Diezel and Friedman. You know when it's the triple rec.

Re: Took me 35 years to get a Marshall..now I have two.

I like the Marshall but I want to send it somewhere to have it modded a little more to my liking. I sent some emails out and didn't hear back from any of them. It has an overall good sound but it is dull and dark. I'd like to have it rival my Boogies. I'll eventually find someone who can give it a c...
