Re: Mesa Dual Rec Roadster Head- Lost Channel 1/2 AGAIN

You can see what JJ preamp tubes look like in the image on the page or if you click on the 12AX7 tube. They have a wide flat metal plate that gets formed into a flat round disc over both triodes, and then there is also a flat extension with a halo getter above that. They are JJ ECC83s. Those will wo...

Re: Mesa Dual Rec Roadster Head- Lost Channel 1/2 AGAIN

+1 on the cathode follow circuits. Sounds more like V5 may be the culprit if you are using the FX loop in active mode but this issue would be consistent with all 4 channels. You can bypass this circuit completely if you turn off the FX loop function on the back panel. This will also disable the mast...

Re: V1 tube ridicule

I still have the long extended tube shield in the Roadster but did away with the long extension on V1 in my Mark V. You can get tube shield replacements from Mesa's on line store. I bought 10 of them to keep on hand. Also have a lot of amps to keep going so the extra parts are good to have. Even the...

Re: 90 watt Head is 10 watt issue all channels

You may have a weak preamp tube in the phase inverter. Like others have suggested I would start there. Rectifier tube is active all the time but will be bypassed in 90W mode but will still be conducting current some current since the heater is also the cathode but the contributing current is negligi...

Re: Does my Road King need servicing? (video showing potential issue)

I watched the video and have a good understanding of what you are hearing. For piece of mind my Roadster does the exact same thing. I would suspect this to be normal.

Re: NAD: Multi-Watt Dual Rectifier

The MWDR to me sounds like CH2 and CH3 are identical twins. No change in voice or tone between the two like there is with the Roadster when switching between 3 and 4. Love the amp in spongy power mode with tube tracking. Amp still remains tight. I should look and see what Rectifier tubes are install...

Re: TC-100 vs Rectifier - Questions

Another late response. Today I pitted the MWDR against the TC-100 just to see what is similar and different other than the obvious (EL34 vs 6L6). Since the MWDR does fit on top of the Vertical 212 (rubber feet will sit but head is much wider than the cab) Well a surprise was to await me on the clean...

Re: TC-100 vs Rectifier - Questions

BUMP….. I know this is late... been a while since I have been on. Thought I had posted to this thread but for some reason not there... sorry for the late response. Have both TC-50 and TC-100. Sure, Mesa knocked it out of the park with this series. TC-100 would be more favored for the ample bass. I g...

Re: Roadster Reverb Issue

I have tried the channel switching while in standby. Perhaps I am not doing it enough times. I generally cycle the channels as well as the mute after I take it out of standby following a cold start. After that I do not get pops. Good to hear you resolved your reverb issue. The white wire does not ha...

Re: NAD: Multi-Watt Dual Rectifier

After having this amp for a while now, I am still impressed with it. I am now considering getting another OS Recto slant front 412 cab so I do not have to keep the RA100 off of its pedestal. The grey and black jute cab looks much better with the RA100 sitting on top since they match. I can get by wi...

Re: Roadster + 12AT7 in V6 = Awesome

I thought about changing the rectifier tubes but I like the way the Roadster performs. I did notice that the volume level while using the 12AT7 in the phase inverter did drop some. I have been comparing this amp to the MWDR so I went back to a stock tube in that position for now. MWDR is the bomb! S...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

It has been a while since posting in this threat. Those that are joining in, keep it simple, no need to do any hard mods to the amp. 12AT7 in V4 is ideal. I will have to try one in V7. I think what happed before when I tried it was the tube I was using. I recently got a VT1000 tube tester and found ...

Roadster + 12AT7 in V6 = Awesome

Decided to tube roll the Roadster again. Ever since I got the MWDR I was egging to see if I can par up the Roadster with some preamp tubes. Though the 212 cabs, both sounded nearly identical but that changed with the 412 cabinets. MW remained tight but the Roadster slumped a bit. Did not sound bad b...

Re: NAD: Multi-Watt Dual Rectifier

I did manage to run the MWDR with the TC-100. Sweet. Not sure how I dialed it in but the vintage voice on CH3 running tube rectification and though the horizontal 212 cab, almost a clone of the TC-100 on CH3. I was and was not surprised how well the two amps ran in parallel with the switch track. No...

Re: Multi-Watt speaker / ohms setup in 50w mode

When you run at 50W, the only change is the drop of two tubes. Nothing else changes to keep the headroom consistent to the 100W power setting. Yes this will tend to saturate the two tubes more so than with 4 tubes. Change in speaker connection (8 ohms into the 4 ohm jack) will not improve the headro...
