Re: RA100 Combo with Creamback G12H-75

3 year bump. I picked up a Royal combo for a great price. My thoughts are the V30's gotta go. What I've been doing is not using the internal speakers in the royal cab but dragging the combo close to an Electra Dyne combo and using the Dyne as the cabinet for the Royal. The Dyne is a 1x12 and I load...

Re: RA100 Combo with Creamback G12H-75

I need to ask what power tubes are you using in the RA100 combo? This I found to be the key with the Royal head or combo as I have both. I have tried many different power tubes in this amp ranging from the stock tube STR447 (vary harsh sounding), Mullard Reissue EL34 (agressive) Tung Sol EL34B (b=bl...

Re: Problems with your Mark V...it's you.

It boils down to personal preference. There are many amps that are very forward, more so than the Mark V90W. I feel the V is a bit more relaxed but aggressive. It does seem to have a specific tonal spectrum that can be either rewarding or not. CH2 on the Mark V 90W (excluding the edge voice) seems t...

Re: So, what amps do you own?

My amp collection has grown over the past few years. Mesa Boogie amps: JP-2C, TC-50, TC-100, Royal Atlantic 100 head, Royal Atlantic 100 combo, Roadster, Multi-watt Dual Rec, California Tweed, Mark V 90W. I would have to say my two best favorite amps are the two Royal Atlantics running in parallel w...

Re: Strange Low End Resonance on Modern Mode

Mesa support is kinda blowing me off saying its normal. So i prepared this video. Is this normal? https://youtu.be/qZjgUg1u1eY Sorry, I did not see this video until after posting. It sounds perfectly normal to me and is typical of an amp without reverb to sound that way. Modern pulls the negative f...

Re: Strange Low End Resonance on Modern Mode

I have two questions regarding your issue as I have had quite the same thing happen but with a Mark IVb wide body combo used with a 1999 oversized slant front 412. This was prior to getting the Multi-watt Dual Rectifier or the Roadster. I also have a 2014 standard slant front 412 and a new 2019 stan...

Re: Royal Atlantic Bliss

My pair of Royals definitely surprised me when I got my first 7 string guitar. OMG does that sound incredible. I am surprised how tight the amps sound on the red channel with the low b string. The tubes I am using are working out great. I have gotten some NOS tubes in after posting the original thre...

Re: NGD my first two 7 string axes

Most important.... what amps these two axes sound the best? My favorite rig setup is a pair of Royal Atlantics RA-100. One is the half stack you see in the picture in the original post. The other is the RA-100 combo combined with the Mesa Recto Horizontal 212 cab. I am using a Mesa Switch track to r...

NGD my first two 7 string axes

Normally I would have just done one then the other since they were purchased at different times, well say 2 weeks from each other. Bought the Kiesel Vader 7 string first. The one on the left. Specifications: Black Limba Body sides, maple neck through with zebra wood fretboard and stainless steel jum...

Re: TC-50 fixed and sounding just as good as new

Been a while since I logged in.... I think mace has the correct answer. Some other ideas, stuff some compressible foam behind the pickup, it needs to be very compressible, if it is too stiff it will push the pickup out. I had several guitars that would just roll into feedback and was more so an issu...

Re: TC-50 Guidance

Yes it gets close but.... that recording is definitely processed as that is not a single track recording as it does sound like there is track doubling or some sort of stereo effect which will change how things sound especially with other instruments in the mix. I did not see any mention how it was r...

Re: Roadster power tube options

I have only seen them on the website. I do not have any JJ power tubes to look at. Besides that, when I was in California at the Hollywood store I had asked the product specialist what would be coming from Mesa that is new or in the works that he would be permitted to disclose. I was told that Mesa ...

Re: TC-50 Guidance

To some the TC series may be their dream, to others it may be something a bit too different and what to expect or how to set the controls to get the sound you need. I had my first hand experience with the Royal Atlantic so the TC series was not too far off from that in terms of how to dial in the se...

Re: Tung Sol 6V6 for TC50

Mesa offers the JJ version of 6V6s which can handle the 420V plate voltage (based on what others have measured the plate voltage to be for an EL34 tube in the circuit and since it is the same bias setting, I would assume the plate voltage to be about the same but could be different with the 6V6 tube...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Great to see this thread still catching people's eye. Just saw it referenced over on a different forum too. Helps to prove the AT7 works as described for sure! I have been sharing this thread with others in the Mesa boogie fan club on Facebook. It is good to see this thread is still growing and man...
