Re: MK III purple stripe combo

Hi there, I did a purple stripe review and a couple of videos a few years ago. It's a really sweet amp. The one I was looking at didn't have an eq and was still superb. I'm flying at the moment, so youtube isn't coming up, but here's one demo that I did and some of the other ones I did should come u...

Re: Triple crown 100 vs Roadster!?

I feel the same about my Roadster, I’ll never part with it. But for a weekend warrior player, you can’t beat the simplicity the TC brings to a rig. The TC also does lower volume playing much better than the Roadster, which really needs to be LOUD to sound it’s best. I totally agree with this. The o...

Re: TC-100 vs Rectifier - Questions

Well, if we're doing late responses here, I'm happy to throw in my two cents worth. I own a MWDR, a TC-50, and a bunch of Marks. Regarding thump: for the Mark V, you need the speaker cabinet on the floor if you are in IIC+ mode, or you need to have it in Mark IV mode with a decent amount of bass fro...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Secondly, I purchased my MarkV:90 new in 2010 and at least with mine I get a much less "fizzy" sound by hard bypassing the loop. Do you think I am doing something wrong or was this an issue inherent on the early models? It doesn't matter if I have anything actually in the loop or not. I've definite...

TC-50 clip

Short one but I really like this: https://soundcloud.com/dlpasco/mesa-tc-50-demo.

Les Paul Standard straight into the amp, clean channel and then red channel.

I wish the Mark V had pull pots

I wish that I could use Pull Bright, Treble Shift, Bass Shift, and Pull Deep on my Mark V channels instead of having to deal with hard-wired combinations. I feel like I could do some more interesting things with Clean mode on Channel 1 and IIC+ mode on Channel 3 (being able to engage Pull Deep on II...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

I thing that most do not understand the effects of using the 12AT7 in place of a 12AX7 in their Mark V 90W. "Oh, that has lower gain, I want more gain not less" is the common comment I have read in Facebook where the 12AT7 mod is mentioned. Perhaps some of those that state the 12AT7 mod are followe...

Re: Problems with your Mark V...it's you.

I love this post so much. Thank you for saying all of this. I hate the fact that it took me so long to get comfortable with this amplifier. It's got everything I was looking for in it there, I just needed to stop using such extreme settings. I do use AT7s in v4 and v6, though, and I look to Mark IV ...

Re: What I've learned about the Mark III

I sent my IIC+ in and Mike did a switchable C++ mod: pull deep toggles it on and off, and he moved the normal pull deep switch to the midrange knob. It works very well. With the settings I mentioned above, I'm able to get a good feel out of my blue stripe III if I dial in enough volume for the amp t...

Re: What I've learned about the Mark III

I actually haven't done any mods to it yet, although R2 definitely sounds appealing.

What I've learned about the Mark III

I'm pretty wiped out right now, but this has really been on my mind lately. I have now owned: A blue stripe Mark III Two different Mark Vs Two different Mark V:25s Two different JP-2Cs A Mark IIC+ Selling and rebuying amps was an expensive and probably stupid process. My credit cards are finally pai...

Mark V ground loop hum?

I'm getting a wicked hum on my 90 Watt Mark V when I plug into the Slave Out, which I do *not* get when I plug into the fx loop send. Besides the hum, the slave out sounds better for what I'm using it for than the fx loop output, and I also want to be able to this with the fx loop completely disable...

Re: Road King ii v2 vs TC-100

The RK Modern voicing is dark but heavy AF. I found it to be plenty articulate, particularly when I kept the gain around 1 or 2 o’clock, tops, and used a boost.

I stopped using the geq with edge mode and I am a lot happier with it.
