Re: Lonestar Classic 1x12 question.

Hey Fizzle - I had the same issue when I first got my Lonestar and thought something was wrong. I ended up sending audio clips to Mesa and they also told me this was normal.

Re: Jamming with my lonestar classic

That was excellent. Thanks for posting, it reminds me of one of the many reasons I love the Lonestar.

Re: Sending my Mark lll in .... any suggestions on what to d

Sorry, Can't help you out. My Mark iii is at boogie now for a general service, recap and also getting the R2 mod. When I get it back I will tell you if I wish I would have done something else.

Re: Thought I had a mark III, Actually have a POS

Justice - I like the idea of getting all of the versions :D Did you get your green stripe back yet? Mine is pretty much done (just ended up with a recap, r2 vol mod, new power tubes in outer sockets - EL34). Kdorsey - I mainly got the mark iii for the lead channel (the clean was actually decent but ...

Re: Lonestar 2x12 keeps going out

Kenny - I haven't had this problem with my Lonestar but had something similar happen with an old Mark iii that I purchased recently. The volume would cut out after playing for 30-60mins. I put a cable in the effects loop and the problem wouldn't happen. I ended up cleaning the effects loop jacks and...

Re: Thought I had a mark III, Actually have a POS

Justice - I liked the black stripe but not sure how it compares to the other stripes, I have only heard the others on youtube (they all sounded good to me). Seems like alot of folks have had good inputs on the purple, blue, red and green. I wouldn't know which mod to go with +, or different color st...

Re: Mark iii dimension questions

gts - Thanks for the reply. 1.) I will probably build the front plane ~1/8" larger and just plane or sand it down when the chasis gets back. 2.) I finished the cabinet and have the stain done, just need to sand down to show the grain and apply the nitro. Thanks also for the feedback on the reverb ta...

Mark iii dimension questions

I took several dimensions on my mark iii head before I sent it in for repairs and have decided to build a new head cabinet for it while it is getting repaired. I have mostly completed the enclosure except for the front panel and reverb cut out. I am building it a little taller to provide more space ...

Re: Thought I had a mark III, Actually have a POS

I just sent my Mark iii in for some repairs and maintence a couple of weeks ago. Before I sent it they provided an initial estimate but gave the disclaimer "as long as someone hasn't made alot of changes to it". I wonder if they were referencing yours as an example or if this happens frequently. It ...

Re: Soon to be ex Mark III owner

Justice - I am liking the black dot/stripe - It fills in nicely between the my lonestar and mini rec. I am noticing that it can be a little bit fizzy. The guys at Mesa Boogie said that I should probably replace the two silver caps 50 mf 75 volts (w/ 50mf 100volts) based on the age and failure rate o...

Re: Soon to be ex Mark III owner

Justice - The volume fade / drop out happens after about 1hr of playing. I replaced the preamp and power amp tubes just to make sure that wasn't the problem. I can prevent the problem by putting a patch cable in the effects loop. I think the effects loop has caused this same thing for others (corros...

Soon to be ex Mark III owner

Looks like I need to return my Mark III Head (black dot) for a refund this Thursday to the guitar store. Hopefully I will be able to buy that one again after it is repaired. I will be starting my search again for a Mark III (or maybe Mark IV). I hope I have better luck this time.

Re: Mark III black dot head - any inputs?

megavoice - Thanks for the note. I swapped out all of the preamp tubes to ensure they weren't the issue but still having the volume drop after playing for a while. If there are any experts on the schematic I would be interested to know what the difference is in components that are active when the ef...

Re: Time To Move On?

I think channel 2 is excellent for a creamy lead, I just use an OD pedal w/ almost no gain, a slight volume boost and then adjust the tone to get the required sound. I generally use other amps for distorted rhythm though.

Re: Mark III black dot head - any inputs?

I am not sure how much use these tubes have. I switched the outer and inner tubes and put it in class A and this doesn't help with the volume cutting in and out. I am pretty sure this isn't a power tube issue. When the volume does come back the tone isn't very good. I will try swapping out the pre-a...
