Re: FS: Carvin Holdsworth H2

Sounds very clear and open. Can do some good high gain tones without feedback. It's semi-hollow unlike the h2 fatboy which is hollow so it sounds great from clean to even extreme gain levels.

Re: 50 cal plus

scottcrud is right if you run the gain at 10 you won't have nice clean. setting the gain 6-7 will get you some good gain on the lead and if you roll back your volume knob on your guitar you should get a decent clean.

Re: 50 cal plus

Haha I know what you mean but I've used one before to to keep my gain up on the dirty channel when I ran the gain at 3-4 to keep my cleans bright. I guess it depends on your music style and pickups.

Re: 50 cal plus

With some hot pickups and boost in front you should be able to get some heavy stuff out of it. try using a true bypass pedal with channel switching control so you can run an od pedal on the gain channel to get you into the heavy distortion without affecting the clean.

Re: Question about Lead Drive mod for .50 +

The lead drive mod will only let you control the amount of gain that the gain knob is set to. You could also try setting the gain to 6 and roll off your volume knob on your guitar to get a nice clean.

Re: .50 Calibur for a 6505+ a good trade?

Depends on what type of music you play. The 50 caliber won't have as much gain as the 6505+ but the gain is a lot more defined without the buzzsaw top end. I own a 50 cal + and can tell you it's an awesome amp. Also one thing the 50 cal doesn't have a lead master so balancing clean and lead is a lit...
