Re: Creating a DC Register for Serial# Dating

I just bought a DC-5b from a guy in Colorado.

02701

I don't know what year it was made. It's in really good shape.

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

I own the Mark V and the DC-5. I don't believe the version 1 and 2 amps is accurate. I think that Mesa sent the amps with 2 different switches. A one and two button, respectively. I have the 1 button switch, but I believe the socket is ring-tip-sleeve (a stereo jack). I'll check mine later. The DC-...

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

Is there a part list available so I can find out what caps I need? My dad builds/repairs amps for a hobby/side job so I'll probably get him to do it for me. If you want I can email you the schematic for the amp. Just PM me. I can also give you the easy mod for the effects loop to make it serial. If...

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

Well, I went with the hardly used amp because it is a B model. I should have a DC-5 combo at my door by Monday or Tuesday. Woohoo!

In the mean time I'm researching isolation cabs. Any one have experience with them? Certain brands better than others?

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

Yeah... oh well.

Would it bet better to buy a DC-5 that has barely been used. Or one that has been used a lot, but serviced regularly?

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

Man I was so close to snagging a Mark IV combo that was damaged in shipping (just the cab) for $500... he was going to ship it today and then a local guy offering $600 cash swooped in and ruined my day...

Oy.

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

I've looked a few times, but they never have mesa boogie as an available brand, and search brings up nothing. Am I doing it wrong? lol. EDIT: I went back and clicked something differently and it took me to a different section of the site than before... weird. There's actually a combo (looks like the...

And it sold before he got back to me.

The market is REALLY slow for these... Only 1 on Ebay and it looks like an A model.

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

I'm looking at a head right now. I believe it would be a B, the footswitch has two buttons. They guy says he's had it for 6 months and it is it great condition. It belonged to his friend who he says is a gear freak and maintains his equipment. Going to ask about those particular things you just talk...

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

Yeah that one looks nice but that converts to about $1500 which is $400 over my budget. Then shipping... ouch.

Re: New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

Yeah I think I'm going to go with a DC-5 for now.

That said... when shopping on ebay is there anything I should look out for, red flags etc...or any questions I should ask the seller?
