Hmmmm, I live in the uk and was wondering how big a transformer to use with my dual rec (seeing as my anp is american) apparently with the amp being 100w i needed a 500w transformer, this is what i am using at the moment.

Hey guys, will changing tubes make a "massive" difference, i hope it does, the reason i ask is because ive never had a tube amp before and since i got my dual rec a few months ago ive never been happy at all with the orange and red channels which meant me always turning to my metalzone pedal thru ch...

The US version of the dual rectifier that i bought requires a 120volt 4amp power supply, this implication of that was, apparently, that i need a 500watt step-down transformer, so that is what i bought, and that is what i have been using.

Its not that i couldnt get a totally amazing tone, i cant seem to get anything slightly good at all, when i hear recordings of mesa amps and they sound amazing, and totally different to wat i get when i try, i played on a boss mt-2 the other day thru some cruddy solid state marshall, and the tone so...

Well, i got a phonecall from the shop and the guy said he couldnt find anything wrong with the amp, maybe i just totally suck at EQ, i did try suggested settings from the manual but it didnt seem to make a difference, if a tube amp seems to sound dull and muddy is that a tube problem, im running thr...

yes i tried that, if you take out the 2 middle 6L6`s and one of the rectifier tubes you are downsizing the power by 50% which basically switches the amp to 50watts, atleast, its something like that anyway, it says in the instruction booklet which i have read thru about 893742 times

lol, nah, im using the Mesa 5U4GB tubes that the shop ordered for me, along with the 4 6L6 STR 425`s and watever factory supplied preamp tubes are in it, the head is run thru a 4x12 recto cab and im playing an m-1000 deluxe, and for some reason it sounds like ass.

Oh also i forgot, will it make a difference to the sound if i use an ordinary guitar cable to wire my head and cab, i asked a guy in a guitar shop and he said just use a normal guitar lead, maybe this is the problem, i might go out and buy a speaker cable tomorrow if it makes a difference.

probably something around the 11 o`clock regions, i think im gonna get it serviced and see wats (if anything at all) wrong with it, i think its the best thing to do seeing as i dont have a f%&# clue about these amps. :?:
