Re: Quad Switching with 1/4" Jacks

Each switch jack turns the channel on or off.

Re: Volume control with Studio Pre + 2:90?

Hi Morgan, I have my Quad's master at 5, and adjust my volume on the power amp. I use a smaller power amp, a 50/50, and it rarely goes over 3.

I tried using the effects send, but I did not notice much of a difference. Don't be afraid to experiment!

Re: Tone 1986 mesa boogie studio we w/ EQ

The preamp section is very (and I mean very) similar to the Mark IIC. Does your silverface Fender have an effects loop? You can use the effects send from the Boogie into the return of another amp to use the Boogie preamp and use the second amp's power section. You could also use the line out to ampl...

Re: Tone 1986 mesa boogie studio we w/ EQ

You can activate the lead channel with just a speaker cable. Plug one end into the footswitch jack, and ground the other end to the metal handle cover. You may have to tape it in place, but it will work. Try these settings: Volume: 5-6 Master: 5-6 The volume and master interact. You can dime the col...

It's an awesome preamp! It's bassically two preamps, channel one is from the Mark IIC, and channel 2 is from the Mark III, minus R2.

Re: Stryper tone

Paulyc hit the nail on the head. There is an interview with Oz Fox somewhere on the internet where he discusses this, and that his Mark IIC+ may have actually been a Mark III prototype.

Speaker Change for EL84 .50 Caliber

My tastes have changed over the years, and I'm looking for a more Fenderish sound from my .50 caliber.
I have the C-90, but I'm looking for something not as stiff.

I see a lot of praise for the Eminence Cannabis Rex, but is that a "chimey" speaker?

Re: 50 caliber + sound issues. (Please help!)

Carefully remove the tubes, and spray De-Oxit in the sockets, in the pots and sliders, in the jacks, and around the pcb board. Wait until it is dry before you replace the tubes.

Re: The cheapest IIC+ I can afford

I stopped using the EQ on my Quad. I've got that NOFX Punk in Drublic tone dialed in, and now the eq seems to take away more than it gives. If you are looking for a cheaper Mark IIC+, the Quad and the 50/50 combo are pretty darned close, and that's coming from Mike Bendinelli. My rig cost me $800.00...

Re: Mark III died again

Do you play through the amp regularly, or just every now and then? A similar thing happened to me a long time ago. I used to only play my .50 Caliber a few times a month, and I'd crank it up when I did. It would crackle and hiss, and after a bout 20 minutes, the volume would drop (to almost nothing)...

Re: Mesa Boogie 2x12 Vertical Slant Half Back

Boogie offered a panel to close the top. I have one, and it tightens the bass up, and cuts out some high end.

These came with EV/C90 combination, 2 C90's, 2 EV's, and probably Eminence vintage 50's in the bottom and a C90 in the top.

I think all of the vertical halfbacks were ported in the bottom.

Re: MARK III Red Reverb Issue

[quote= I interchanged all of them but the port 1, silver encased one. [/quote] This might be the tube for reverb. I think the metal casing is for noise suppression. The old Boogie catalogs advertised a shielded tube for reverb. You can use a regular 12AX7, or even a 12AT7 like they did in the old d...
