Re: Sound out of head!!!

Thanks for the replies @MattxG908 and Eevil. I'm not hearing noise (yes there there is the fan), I'm hearing what I'm playing like if there was a cheap small speaker in the head. @Mace. So the tubes can produce an audible reproduction of my sound when cranked ? If that good or bad ? Cheers, James I...

Re: Sound out of head!!!

Hi, I purchased recently a Torpedo Live in order to do some silent recording. I also purchased the unit in order to get power clipping in a house setting. However, for the first time, I noticed that even without a cab, my mark V:35 head makes sound when I crank out the master volume "as if" there w...

Wow... I've posted 2 threads & no replies to either. I guess this forum is dead. Anyway, I figured out it was a pre-amp tube causing the hum.
Alas it is - mostly.

Distance work (coding) in home with kids... And as I am Finnish it’s best place to be. No need to be more social than this  Problem is how to cure the GAS when everyone and their dog are nuts? Yet the worst part are the individuals who think they’re invincible and just continue living without t...

Re: New 50th Anniversary Dual Recto FX loop issues. (Pics)

If one has any pedal in the fx loop with instrument level input it’ll drop the output and most probable will produce unwanted distortion to signal. I had a Roadster some time ago and the loop was top notch when using proper line level effects :) as is mentioned in the amps manual the fx loop is line...

Re: 8 pind din layout

Hello. One pin carries the signal for channel change (1-4) and others are relay on/off signals (Rev/solo/mute/fx-loop). There may be also ground wire. I don’t remember and don’t have Roadster or Mark V to test. One can measure/test which is which and reverse engineer the signals used to trigger chan...

I think Mr. Petrucci has not sold his collection of old IIC+ (and hordes of other Mesa stuff...)

Re: MK III purple stripe combo

I wanted to try and pull this amp into the present day, so I ordered an updated head shell and new Mark V-style knobs for it. The IIIs have a lot more real estate for the controls, so I went with the large ones. Here’s how it turned out. May not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it: https://cdn-...

I have same probs  Amp is not most usable without some external volume device in loop —> reverb will not work Head is heavy as hell: Hauling head and some cab will make old farts cringe thus playing the guitar is harder when hands are already exhausted  Still... tones the amp is capable ...

Re: Volume sweet spot - Mark V

Hey All, It is documented in many forums that Boogies (and many high wattage amps) need to be cranked to bring out all the tones it has to offer. Where is the volume sweet spot in your opinions? Mainly talking channel 2 & 3. I am unable to really open this amp up in my house but should be able to g...

Re: 100w Dual Recto into 112 Lonestar Cab...

should I be okay playing the Recto below 12 or 10 O'Clock on the output Master? It has risks and I refuse to say it is okay as long as there is risk of frying the speaker and the amp. Now you know a bit more about risks and you have to evaluate yourself if you are willing to take the gamble...

Re: 100w Dual Recto into 112 Lonestar Cab...

I read somewhere that at 8 Ohms a 100w amp outputs around 80w. Well. 100W tube amp can push a lot more power than the rated wattage to output... so from 100w amp to around 160w may be possible. Even bigger amounts from some amps with huge transformers. Use spongy and tube recto to reduce the risk t...

Re: 100w Dual Recto into 112 Lonestar Cab...

Hi. I would say “not safe, but with precautions risk is manageable” If the recto has 50w setting -> use that -> risk to blow the speaker is smaller. Spongy -mode lowers the output -> smaller risk to fry the speaker. Tube rectification lowers the output -> smaller risk to get a smokey cone......
