Re: changing valves playing at low volumes

In my opinion, you still get fuller sound when you're at least putting some decent power to the power tubes. If all you're doing is playing low volume clean, you might consider swapping the 6L6's for 6v6's. I believe eurotubes has a mesa-specific kit for this swap. I, personally, plan on trying this...

Yea, you're right, it has to be wired in parallel or you'd HAVE to have a second cab.

Re: Question about the output jack on the Recto 4x12" cab

IIRC recto 4x12s are 8ohm cabs. If you connected another 8 ohm cab to that output jack, you'd be showing the head a 16ohm load to the head.

6v6 vs 6l6 clips

I'm thinking of throwing some 6v6 tubes in my roadster so I can get great recto tone in my bedroom, but I'm concerned about what that will do to my tone. Anyone have comparision clips for any amp in the recto range?

Sad to notice that none of you know what's the REAL Rect(um) tone!!

Just go here, scroll down to the "buts" and hit each one to know what a real Rect(um) sounds like:

Re: Better tone when effects loop is engaged?...................

I read somewhere that the tone of an amp is best when the effects loop is engaged. Having said that can anyone verify this? Also, If this is indeed true what about the effects loop being active makes for the better tone? Input appreciated...... I heard the exact opposite with regards to the roadste...

Re: What is THE recto tone?

That song by bowling for soup was when they both recto back then, now the lead singer plays a stiletto and the big guy still plays the recto Interdasting. I haven't seen them live since last year, and they were both still playing rectos then. I always thought the tonal difference came from the les ...

Re: What is THE recto tone?

that linkin park clip sounds like the quintessential recto tone to me. also, both of the guitarists in this band play rectos with, to my knowledge almost no effects whatsoever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwsIoZt6vGU also these guys. One plays a recto the other a stilleto http://www.youtube.com/w...

Re: Is there a simple way to balance 2 stacked cab volumes ?

Alternatively if you're not worried about appearance, you could get some of the egg shell foam that studios use on the walls, and cover a portion of the front of the open backed cab. This oughta kill the output a smidge.

Re: Quick Question.. Speakers - V-30 mix

Physically switching them out is fairly easy. Getting the wiring right so that it provides the right load (ohms) the amp requires a little bit of math.

Re: Question for Roadster and Roadking Owner's...

I play in a cover band mostly so I use all 4 channels: 1 is clean 2 is early/classic rock (sometimes boosted) 3 is "my" sound that I use for modern punk/powerpop 4 is my big, hairy metally/modern heavy rock sound. Someone in a band that isn't trying to mimic everyone else's sound I could see having ...

One last Q, thou.
I can't seem to get hold of Mullard 12AT7 localy, as I am in the hurry I don't have the time to buy it online.
What other brand should I use instead?

I put a GT 12AT7 in V6 on my roadster. I love what it did for my cleans.

What's the difference between a tung-sol 12ax7 and a standard mesa one? I understand that they change tone, but what's the reason for it?
