Re: Lone Star Reeder Mod #1: Channel 2 Pot-Swap

Clapton sounds great on the clip u referenced. then again he pretty much always sounds great. i play humbuckers thru LSS so my sounds lean in a different direction than single coils thru LSC, but i got the reeder mod done and like it. i just consider the channel1 sound more to my taste so it makes s...

Re: Favorite gain pedals?

These days it's the Barber LTD SR for me. Lately I've been using only that and my amp's two channels, and very little else. Extremely transparent and amp-like. based on djw's advice i started researching barber pedals, youtube comparisons etc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsuJ0M0UEkc that guy gear...

Re: Lone Star Reeder Mod #1: Channel 2 Pot-Swap

I apologize if this has already been answered before, but I've done some preliminary searching and couldn't acquire my answer. My question is: Is this mod okay to be done on all three versions of the Lone Star (Classic, Classic with Duo-Class and Special)? By the way, good job to the poster of this...

Re: Noiseless Pickups

Hi, I have a Lonestar Classic and I usually use humbucker equipped guitars, however, I am itching to play my Strat again. Unfortunately, the stock pickups are noisy. I am investigating noiseless pickups. So - my question is - for any of you who have installed noiseless pickups - what did you get an...

I really blew the wording/scope of this question. Too many guys have an amp or two deserving of worthwhile mods. I probably should have asked who modded his Mark IV. Duh. :?

no harm done...

Re: Quad Preamp Volume question?

perhaps it's just so clean lds can keep up with distorted ones
to me distorted sounds tend to give an impression of being louder than a comparable clean sound

princeton ri farts

after some investigation, i realize my prri is NOT suffering from cab rattle like i initially thought- it is bass farts like others have described! when i set v5 b5 t5 it is mostly clean (a very moderate setting to be sure), but if i play 2-3 low notes together it makes a 'blapping' sound. the blap ...

Re: bad tubes in LSS....

Mine is new, though I'm not sure how long it sat in the store. I guess I could call Mesa and ask what year it is, and if it is the new model with the fixed problem. When did they have this issue? Do you knnow if you can do a product date search with the serial number from their web site?[/quote] goo...

Re: LSS for Jazz

i read somewhere here that keeping the channel masters lower and turning up output cleaned up the low end. the writer's idea was that turning up the ch master was putting too much into the circuit. (thank you to whoever wrote that-sorry i forgot who, or i'd gladly give u the credit u deserve for yo...
