Re: Getting a great overdrive sound with Express 5:25+ combo

No, I don't use an attenuator. I did experience a lot thought ( and I mean "a lot") , with different gain and volume settings and with the e.q.

Re: Getting a great overdrive sound with Express 5:25+ combo

Did you use the 5 watt mode ? I use it for all kind of overdrive/distortion. Explore different modes with the gain cranked or with the channel volume cranked up.

I don't know what will happen with the price of used 5:25+ since the Express line is now out of production.

Re: Noise gate to remove hiss on clean channel, upgrade to p

Hi John, I understand you. When the first Express came out, I didn't buy it for the same reasons that you indicate : to much hiss on the clean channel. And I mostly play jazz, so... The Express 5:25+ is quite something else : I bought it and I don't see when I'm going to depart from it. I rarely tur...

Re: Express series being cancelled?

Confirmation : just went to Mesa's site : type in "Express 5:25+" in the search field (because there is no more direct link to it) will bring you to a page figuring the Express with the mention that it is no more in production.

Re: Express Plus 5:25 1x12

I remember that, a couple of years ago, when the first Express 5:25 got out, that I did not buy it because of the very annoying hiss on the clean channel. But, since the 5:25+, all that has been corrected. I bought it and its a keeper.

Re: New 5:25+ User with questions

Hi RobQ, welcome to the Express 5:25+, I'm sure that you will love it. It's difficult to suggest a set-up, too many things are involved. On thing thought that I might suggest since you are new to Mesa is to read the manual. Mesa's tone stack is different than other amps, in particular, they are what...

Re: Voicings

Great info Newysurfer, thanks. The cleans on my 5:25+ is what made me buy this amp. I remember having tried a Lonestar Special a couple of years ago to be astonished by the cleans on this amp. But it was much too heavy for me. About the same time I tried a 5:25 (non+), it was nice but it had too muc...

Re: Voicings

Thanks both of you for your answers. And, as you say, bandit2013, for me, it's really just a matter of curiosity. I love this amp as it is.

Voicings

I asked this question in the Express forum more than a week ago but I had no answers up to now. Maybe I will have more chance here. Here it is : I understand that the 9 voicings of the MK V are reproductions or copies of older Mesas. Is this the same with the Express 5:25+ ? Are the 4 voicings repro...

The voicings of the 5:25+

I understand that the 9 voicings of the MK V are reproductions or copies of older Mesas. Is this the same with the 5:25+ ? Are the 4 voicings reproductions of older Mesas ? If so, from wich models do they come from ?

Thanks Littleb for your comments. I'm about to buy one of those and your comments give me a very good start - if not a definitive response - to my own research.

Re: New Member to the Boogie Board

Hello and welcome. New to the forum but not to Mesa, as I see !

I have an Express 5:25 1x12 combo and I'm very interested by the Mark 5:25. Since you have both, can you tell me what differences you see between the two ?
