Need to darken the clean channel just a touch...

I typically run my Mark V:90 in 90 watt mode with EL34s (Variac Power.) For the clean channel, after much fiddling I've actually come back to the "generic" (not fat, not tweed) setting because it gets me closest to my Two-Rock and my CAA OD100 Classic+ clean tones - those are my benchmarks. And whil...

Re: WGS Vet30 in Recto 2x12?

I prefer the Veteran 30 to the Vintage 30 by a LARGE margin. Having said that I recently (last night) replaced the Vintage 30's in my Recto Cab with a Reaper HP 55hz and an ET-90 and HOLY GOD!! What a difference! Better low end response, tighter, smoother, heavier sound! It's like bacon for your ea...

Re: Switch from RA100 to Mark 5:25/TC50/... or not?

Since I use both an RA100 and a MarkV (the big one) I can tell you that you simply won't get the same thing out of both. Clean tones will match pretty close. But the RA100 is quite different from the Mark V. I don't know about the TC-50, haven't played one yet (I'm scared to, I have a lot of amps al...

Re: Dumble ODS or Bludotone Bludo Drive tone out of MARK V?

New (used) Mark V owner. This is amazing amp. Best amp I have ever owned. Am finding a huge variety of tones in it and learning by trial and error and reading posts here. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on getting lower gain (Carlton) D style tone, and also the thicker higher gain ODS ton...

WGS Vet30 in Recto 2x12?

I recently acquired a WGS Veteran 30 speaker that I put into an old Mojotone 1x12 cabinet and it sounds really fantastic. And for as long as I've played the Recto 2x12 (old horizontal version) I've used the stock Vintage 30's and just sort of dealt with the upper mids because I like the overall qual...

Re: Cleans on the royal atlantic?

Not sure if it's too late, but I've recently been playing my RA a lot as well as my Mark V (90) through a variety of cabs. As reference, I have several amps, but a Lonestar isn't one of them. My Two Rock Emerald Pro is sort of my gold standard for clean tones, and while either the Mark V or the RA c...

Re: Boogie Mark V brown sound

Just had some time to run this tone through a Recto 2x12 and it really does sound great. I'm using a Tom Anderson Cobra, and generally like things darker so all I did was pull down the 6600 slider on the Graphic and it sounds really great. Especially nice with EL34's in the Mark V as I run. I almost...

Re: Boogie Mark V brown sound

I know you said you used an Ownhammer Mesa Traditional 4x12 IR (using a 57) in your torpedo live... do you happen to remember (or know) which one? I have most of the IRs OH has made and there are several options (V60, V70, or V60+V70) and several mic positions. Similarly, these are from a newer set ...

Re: BK Butler Tube Driver,ok with the V?

I don't see why it wouldn't. I can't say that I've ever used my Tube Driver with my Mark V, but I've used it with darn near every other amp I have.

A lot of it probably depends on what you want the TD to do. There are a lot of ways to use that pedal.

Re: Mark V & Two Notes Torpedo Live

I also have a Mark V (and an RA-100) and the Torpedo Live which I've been using exclusively with all of my heads (Matchless, Egnater, and Two-Rock in addition to the Boogies) for about a year now... maybe a little more. For a long time I was using some custom IRs I made from the Redwirez IRs which w...

Re: Mark 5 live use - couple of questions

this problem is why I don't run a cab anymore (I use torpedo live from two-notes.) You can have the most amazing tone you have ever heard and all it takes is a mic out of place and no one will hear anything but a hornet's nest. You will have to take the time to solve this or forever be at the mercy ...

After 3 days with it I couldn't be happier. Sounds awesome, takes my pedals well, and dead simple to dial in within seconds... my kind of amp.

Holy Canoli!

Wow, spent about a half an hour today with an RA-100 into a recto 2x12 and was absolutely blown away by the tones out of this amp. I've been looking for something to bridge the gap between my Mark V cleans and my Two-Rock/Egnater gain tones and the RA has exactly that... and even with single coil pi...

Re: Mark V & Palmer PDI-03

I have the later version of that box by Palmer and as far as i can tell the higher the gain the worse it sounds. I recently started using a Torpedo Live by Two Notes and it is light years better, especially with the new cabinets they have added and the fact that you can load yournown IRs into it. I ...

Re: Considering Mark V - Is there an Eric Johnson in there?

First, since you have a giggity, you may have seen the videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/voodoolabvid where James Santiago (who gets closer to EJ tone than anyone I've ever seen) shows how to do a couple of those sounds with the giggity and he uses a deluxe reverb (tweed) which you could emulate...
