Re: Damage Inc. (Tribute to Metallica) Rig!

I'm actually working on doing some more vids, I need to clarify some things... maybe focus on showing off the tones more, since I didn't have the Marshall on during the vid. It was only the Mesa! 8) I also thought that too much reverb came across in the video, I think I want to simmer that down a li...

Re: Damage Inc. (Tribute to Metallica) Rig!

For whatever reason I couldn't get the tone I was looking for out of the Triaxis. I actually had the Mark V and Triaxis running at the same time, and again, couldn't get them to blend well. However, when I blended them for clean or Lead, it was out of control, loved it! Next week, it could go back, ...

Re: Damage Inc. (Tribute to Metallica) Rig!

So after months of waiting, here's a few you tube vidz of the 'ol rig. Keep in mind, I forgot to mention a few things. 1. Within the sliding shelf along with Whirlwind selector, Morley Quad Box and the Boss NS2 is a Voodoo Lab amp selector. This is how I achieve the dual amp ability. Out of the 4 am...

Re: James' tone

Well, he technically has several rigs. He has a custom Mesa amp selector with the option of 4 different amps in any different combination. which I'm sure you already know. 1. mesa triaxis #1 2. Mesa triaxis #2 3. Diezel VH4 4. Line 6 POD X3 yet, if you heard two different sounds, that means the acou...

Re: James' tone

Well, Unless, A: the acoustic is DI out to front of house, or B: the acoustic is going through the POD X3 and when James changes from acoustic tone to Electric/distortion tone his good 'ol guitar tech changes his patch via the Voodoo Lab GCP midi foot controller. I would think the acoustic is going ...

Re: James' tone

Exactly! The In ears are Front of House Mix from their ISO cabs, as well as the selective monitor wedges. I watched the above posted hour long interview with Big Mick Hughes on you tube, he mentioned some cool little tidbits about the mix. One being, even though the In-ear monitors are great for kee...

Re: What Would Hetfield Do?

When I think tone for Hard Rock/Metal, it's the mighty Metallica tone! Whether it be, The KEA-RTL era with the old Modified Marshall with an Pro-CO Rat pedal in front, or the MOP-AJFA tone with the Boogies Mark IIC+ preamp slaves into the power section of a Marshall with some Aphex Parametric EQs in...

Re: Hammett & Hetfield's Rig Pix from Australia Nov 2010!!!!!!

I'm glad Petrucci was brought up! I agree ten-fold about Petrucci being completely open about his gear, settings, techniques etc... I love the mentality... this is what I use, how I use it and if it helps you out, cool! As for the Het's Triaxis mod, You're probably right, it's some simple alteration...

Re: Hammett & Hetfield's Rig Pix from Australia Nov 2010!!!!!!

I hear ya!!!! 8) The tech dork in me figured it was worth a shot to receive some answers to the mysteries of James' modded or unknown use of certain said equipment. Not a chance in hell is anyone going to replicate the sound of the down picking king! Except Het! I love it! Brian, F*ck off! Chad Ha! ...

Re: Hammett & Hetfield's Rig Pix from Australia Nov 2010!!!!!!

Might I add... Since seeing these pix, I don't feel so bad about having bad cable management in my rig! I was honestly surprised Kirk's rig is that messy! Justin Crew (Kirks Tech) must have his hands full or he has his own little routine on troubleshooting. Also, notice the addition of the Li...

Re: Damage Inc. (Tribute to Metallica) Rig!

NICE! thanks for the tip!
What are your settings on the PS5? I used to own one briefly, never really had much use for it. Any pitch effects I use come from either my Whammy or G-major. I'd be interested in hearing what that sounds like.

what a bunch of fanboy rig dorks we are...

Re: James Hetfield's 2008 rig pix

Flextones? The Line 6 amps?

I know James used his usual Mesa gear along with a Wizard Modern Classic with Wizard 4X12's on Garage Inc.
I've read they experimented with Line 6 products as well, not sure what Line 6 stuff made it to record.

nonetheless, Garage Inc has a great guitar tone!
