Re: NAD. Just picked up a Roadster!

Thanks for the info. You said that current Mesa are JJ's. What are older ones? I think the Mesa 12ax7 I have are about 10 years old. Comparing the 2 Mesa branded 12ax7's, they look different.

Re: NAD. Just picked up a Roadster!

Thanks for your information and input. I've replaced the JJ's with Mesa's and put a Tung Sol in V1.

NAD. Just picked up a Roadster!

I haven't got a chance to crank it yet but I'd like to ask a few qustions about the tubes I found in it. In the V positions all are mesa tubes except for V3 and V5 which are JJ's. Why would JJ's be in those positions. There are Groove Tubes GT 6L6 R in all 4 positions and Mesa 5U4GB in the other 2 p...

Re: Some Questions and Advice

I got a call from my amp tech and he said the the problem was coming from the effects loop jacks. I did run straight through like you suggested but left the loop jacks plugged in...I know I know...I should've taken the jacks out. My tech is going to replace the loop jacks with the gold plated ones. ...

Re: Some Questions and Advice

I cleaned v1 and v2 with contact cleaner as you suggested and tried it at rehearsal last night and no change. Still terrible cleans. So its off to the repair man and then possibly up for sale. I love the tone from the triple but if its causing this many problems than you might see it on ebay or kiji...

Re: Some Questions and Advice

Thank You for all your time and help. I'll let you know the results soon. Would rubbing alcohol work instead of contact cleaner?

Re: Some Questions and Advice

Yes. Pushed setting has a nice crunch but on clean it sounds less crunch and more break up.

Re: Some Questions and Advice

Yes i checked the EL34/6L6 switch. It is correct. The other channels sound right. I've tried different outlets and 2 different cabs. Its does it wil all guitars. I'm afraid the best way to discribe the distorion is like the "Pushed" switch on, but not as pushed. Kind of like running out of head room...

Re: Some Questions and Advice

I am taking it to a tech soon. If it's going to cost too much to fix then ill probably go out and buy one of the two amps I mentioned. This is the third time in one year that I've had to take it in for repair. Each time it's been for something different. It's getting a bit frustrating.

Some Questions and Advice

Hi All. I have a Triple recto 3 channel that i'm having issues with the clean channel. Basically the clean sounds overdriven. No matter what I've tried to do with the settings, tubes, switches, knobs etc. i can't get any cleans out of this head. I'm considering switching to a Roadster or a Mark V. I...

Re: Microphonic noise coming from guitar won't go away. Idea

Try this. When its feed backing, put your finger on the pup and push down on it without touching the strings. if the noise goes away or is reduced then the pup is too loose in the guitar cavity. Try stuffing some foam underneath the pup and see what happens. This is a common problem with active pups...

Re: Whenever I GAS a Dual Rec...

Wow....That was hilarious. One of the comments I read was "Congratulations, you made your $2000.00 amp sound like a $75 distortion pedal" HAHAHAHAHA LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!! My $30 Dean Markley practice amp sounds better than that.
