Re: Electra Dyne vs Deluxe Reverb [Video]

Thanks for the video. Very good comparison. I'm happy to say that although the Fender sounded very good, I liked the clean channel of the ED more. Thank goodness since I own an ED. The Ed is much more versatile too with the added gain stages.

Re: Verdict on Electra Dyne

I think the only Marshall amp that may possibly compare to the Electradyne would be one of the earliest bass circuit amps, but as has been stated, the ED is smoother. I love the ED just the way it is. If I wanted a screaming, crunchy, upper midrange amp, I would definitely look at a more modern Mars...

Re: Anyone have hiss issues with ED?

Try the Mesa SPAX7-A tubes. They seem to lower the noise floor to me.

Re: Clean channel suddenly gone

So I switched the V1/V2 tubes (Hi/Lo) with the V4/V5 tubes (Clean) and all three channels work fine. Go figure! I guess a tube had worked itself loose, but the Dyne is in my studio and never gets moved. I generally play the clean channel 80% of the time, but while it was out I was using blue more f...

Re: Speakers for Electra Dyne?

Ok, I just installed a pair of well broken in Scumbacks, an M75/H75 duo, which I find a great combination for Marshall type tones. So far, I find these speakers a great deal more detailed than the V30s that came with the amp. The V30s sounded duller and harder whereas the Scumbacks seems to bring o...

Re: LSS Current Reduction and 5Y3 mod

I just bought a returned LSS from Sweetwater. I had it about 2 weeks and lost the 5Y3 tube. I contacted Sweetwater, stating in my message that I suspect that is why it was returned. I received phone call promptly from the service tech. He confirmed that was the reason for return, but he made the res...

Re: LSS 5w and 15w rectifier question

The 5w and 15w run the 5Y3 rectifier, 30 w uses 4 solid state diodes. There is a know problem with this amp below a serial number of 06418. Mesa boogie has a mod to reduce current through the Rec tube so this won't happen. If you take it to a Mesa Boogie authorized service center, they will repair ...

Re: NAD: To arrive today!

lespauljoe1....congrats on the LSS. My amp search ended about a year ago when I purchased my LSS. Being mainly a home player with the occasional jam with da buddies......I was looking for something with a rich clean tone and a mild overdrive especially at lower volumes. My LSS lives on the 5w setti...

Re: NAD: To arrive today!

Very exciting. I just got my LSS a couple of months ago and I love it. It is a loud amp on any setting, but you do get some leeway with the 5 watt setting. Congrats! The Lone Star Special arrived Friday evening. I have gone through quite a lot of experimentation over the last few years with amps. I...

Re: NAD: To arrive today!

Congratulations on the LSS Joe. I'm a newbie to the LSS myself (but not MB). I was thinking the 5 watt would work for "Closet Playing" but even the 5 Watt setting is Loud but... you can lower the volume and it still sounds fine. Keep us posted on what you think. Thanks Mike. I will. My neighbor nor...

NAD: To arrive today!

I ordered a Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special that is set to be delivered today. I am very excited about this amp. I mainly play blues/blues rock and it seems this will be an ideal amp for this. Some history I have with Boogie amps: Electra Dyne Lone Star Classic My living arrangements changed in March....

Re: Came back home to the Lonestar Classic. Feels good! New

Had a Lonestar Classic a while back loved it but then got rid of it.....after touring with the Mark V and using other Boogie amps I decided it was time to come back home to where I need to be and that's with a Lonestar Classic. Check out my new rig I just got today. Lonestar Classic Short Head with...

FT: Mesa/Boogie Electra dyne 1X12 combo

I have a black 1X12 Electra dyne combo loaded with a Scumback H75 100 watt 8 ohm speaker I would like to trade for an Electra dyne head. The head must be in very good to excellent condition and have the gain trem feature. I will take photos of my amp tonight if anyone would like to see it. Thanks fo...

Re: Paired my Electra Dyne with a Scumback...

Yes. Speaker choice is right up there with Guitar, Amplifier, and Cabinet for things that have a gigantically massive impact on overall tone. I personally love the stock speaker in combination with the Electra Dyne because it has such a fantastic clean tone, such a tight percussive bottom end, and ...
