New format is great but it's a little bit strange to me that the user's info is on the right side now. Anyone else feeling the same?
I actually like this change. The eye goes straight into the discussion topic, rather than the poster and his personal info (which is rather secondary/useless info).

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

...you really have to try the GZ34 rectifier tube... it makes the 10Watt mode so much bigger - it made it my favorite mode.A view month ago I finally found the key to (hardware-) mod this amp and throw out the parts that from my perspective don't belong there. Since then, I'm struggeling with mysel...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Yup. In the Phase Inverter. Try it. The V4 one does the typical AT7 drive perfomance, the Phase Inverter one appears to enhance that massive 3d sounding vintage Markness across all channels.I also use Tungsol 12AX7s for the 1st stages of the preamp too to keep it coming in well in the front end in ...

Re: The most British sounding of them all - Which Mesa?

So far, it has come down to this:

1) Stiletto Deuce II & pedal
2) RA-100 & pedal
3) TC-100

Opinions & suggestions?

Re: The most British sounding of them all - Which Mesa?

My solution for adding amps that honestly I can't afford and have no room for was to pick up a modelling amp. I got a Fractal Audio Axe-FX II. It's really an excellent piece of gear and delivers worthy tones if you take your time to tweak them out properly. This gives you the option to even do such...

Re: New Quad Owner *with vid*

You know, The thing is, whatever i tried with the quad, the studio was always bigger sounding no matter what. With the quad, you can achieve 4 pseudo sounds or 2 great sounds. Ch1 for heavy rythm and ch2 for a metal solo/lead sound. Otherwise, in ch1 you can have a very nice blackface clean sound (s...

Re: The most British sounding of them all - Which Mesa?

Hi bandit and thanx for the reply πŸ‘πŸΌ Marshall jubilee doesn't fit the bill, as i want 3 footswitchable sounds. I need 2 channels at least, IF a pedal can give any one of the 3 sounds i'm looking for but 3 footswitchable channels is the ultimate. Also, i dont want to mix the recto and the mark, as i ...

Re: The most British sounding of them all - Which Mesa?

Do you actually have an objection to buying a Marshall to get a Marshall tone? It's absolutely no sin to buy another amp and have it not be a Mesa, you know Hi there, I would like something very marshally and different from what I already have but at the same time not completely far away from the ba...

Even though CH2 has a little more gain it sounds smaller than CH 1
Yeah, that's because they are 2 different preamps in a box. Ch1= Mark IIC/CH2=Mark III πŸ‘πŸΌ
Had it, sold it. Studio Pre however, that's another story. Just awesome in every way.

Re: The most British sounding of them all - Which Mesa?

Hi guys!
Thanks a lot for the replies so far πŸ‘πŸΌ

Bandit,
how would you compare the TC 100 and the RA100 in terms of sounds and feel?
Which one would you say is more suitable for the sounds I'm looking for?
One of your great informative and in depth long posts here would be much appreciated 😁

I think with the right boost/od/eq pedals either amp will approximate those tones.
The TC-50/100 will be more versitile with 3 channels vs 2 channels on the Stiletto, and is still in production.

Re: The most British sounding of them all - Which Mesa?

Thank you so much silentbob for these videos. The first one was really helpful. Just something about the sound in the Stilleto, that sounds more organic and true British/EL34 sounding with a mesa twist, that doesn't seem to exist in the other british mesas i.e. royal,tc,electra, trans which seem to h...

The most British sounding of them all - Which Mesa?

Hi my fellow musicians :) I have a Mark V and a Recto Reborn and I want to be done with the British sound as well. What I'm really interested in is: 1) an EL34 glassy clean sound, reminiscent of Hendrix's "The Wind Cries Mary". 2) a modded plexi distortion, reminiscent of Dokken's - "Unchain the nig...
