As versatile as it is, I bought it solely because the top boost mode alone was already bloody fantastic 8)

Re: Mini Rec - harmonic/octave distortion on LOW E string

Time to eat crow.... Thanks to some assistance from Mesa - the amp is perfectly fine. I had the clean channel gain turned up pretty high (in an effort to get a small amount of grit) with the bass up to far. Backing them off and amp is behaving as it should. Thank you That can definitely happen on a...

Re: Stiletto newb looking for tone tips

Are you looking to get a more "Marshall like" tone? Many folks seem to want to get that from a Stiletto. Never gonna be exactly like Marshall, but I found, at least for the Ace, this gets it closer: Bass, low...9 o'clock or less; Mid 11 - 1 o'clock; Treble, noon or less, maybe a lot less depending ...

Re: Which Boogie Amp?

IMO, you should check out the Transatlantic TA-30 if you can, albeit it has been discontinued

Re: EL 34's

+++++1 on the =C= 6L6GC. Sweet tube with lots of bite. Even better driving a quad of EV's. I too have tried the EL34 (several types actually including the =c= set I use with my RA100) took too much away from the tone that I enjoyed most about the Roadster. Perhaps it depends on what Rectifier amp y...

For me on my Roadster, channel 1 alternates between clean and fat modes. The second channel is predominantly stuck in Brit mode 8)

Re: Mesa Road King mk I 2nd channel-other amp with such voic

Hmm, The only thing I am aware of being borrowed from the Lone Star was the Reverb circuit..... Not trying to stir the pot as I never really kept up with Mesa between 2000 and 2012. For the Road King? (Checks manual) - wow. In the manual it says that Fat Mode was actually based on the Mark I Boogie...

Re: Mesa Road King mk I 2nd channel-other amp with such voic

Side note: my tastes in cleans have changed a lot since I got my JP-2C. But the reborn's cleans still make me happy, too. I check every once in awhile :) How's about the clean mode? Just curious of your thoughts as I do own a Roadster head as well. Basically the same preamp as your Road King II. Pe...

Re: Mesa Road King mk I 2nd channel-other amp with such voic

I've been looking for some specific sound and I found it in the 2nd channel of the Road King. I'm mainly playing stoner/doom/yougettheidea and I wanted some kind of Corrosion of Conformity (Delivernace) feel in my sound. I dig the 2nd channel (fat mode) of Road King mk I for that but I don't need t...

It's under the Recto series, yes. But my point was it wasn't the Single and Dual Recto tones that metalheads were looking for. It had it's own great tone, but it was ignored by many

Re: Was hoping for this forum to grow more....

I think the RA was killed by the ED and the ED was killed by the RA. If forums are any indication there was a lot of product confusion at the time... and the economy at the time probably didn't help. I like Mesa's marketing better this time around. Less cork sniffing and very little implication of ...
