Re: Mesa Cab Clone VS Studio preamp

The ADA GCS-2 is versatile , sounds pretty good and not too expensive i don't know how the cab clone made it to market ? load box ok , speaker sim , meh! on paper the formula preamp's recording out looks good , inductors tube stage and transformer balanced out still falls short of sounding good enou...

Re: Triaxis upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0?

I looking at getting a used v1 because it was cheaper , but not once you send it to mesa for the upgrade
forget what they quoted 400 ? I was only interested in the midi CC capacities , the used prices seem to be
coming down, maybe due to the fractal & kemper

Re: Triaxis Sound Issues

Could just shotgun change all the elctrolytic caps [ when I did this on a pro audio piece, with the elna caps from digikey the sound cleaned up, not in a brighter way as I pre-guessed but a less muddy way, well worth it. no need for those if not in the signal path though, get the normal but higher t...

Re: Triaxis upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0?

Another question is " do you have to add the recto board ? "
or is it possible to just get the better midi aspects

Re: I've come to an interesting conclusion about the MarkIIC

I sure most would say it has no effect or influence, but is the IIC
the only mk where the lead ch is split between two different tubes?
just saying .........

Re: Triaxis mkIIc preset ?

I own a mk III , but when a friend brought His IIC over compared his was definitely nicer
seems to have a nice mid rangey grind and made the mkIII sound more like an overdrive box [ a little more flat ]
but looking at preamps with more presets & settings .

Re: Preferred EL34s for the Mark III?

I bought my mkIII new and pretty sure it came with 6L6's right through out
[ the green screen printed ones from the 80's ] the el34's sounded bass shy to me
and the 6CA7 version was the best compromise , I thought they said 17 watts, which seemed
fine unless you needed " country " clean

Re: If the Mark II C+ is such a great amp..

I thought I read a Doug West interveiw , where he mentioned owning a few mkIIc's and the only difference was between models with and without eq's . He goes on to state that the Mesa looked at those and the MK V C+ circuit is exactly the same . More tech types can check and confirm, but I believe mos...

Re: Triaxis: Loud hum on Main out, quiet on FX send

May not be related , but I have a formula preamp that hums into a 20/20 pwr amp either the main out or the rec out , I forget which as I took something else for the gig , it was a sevre ground type hum . the pre into other things is fine and other pres into the 20/20 is fine , I didn't bother to fin...

Blame Randall for the hyperbole I have a mkIII that I'll never sell .....................only cause I could never get half of my money back , like buying a 100.00 power cable ........
