Re: Road King II Tube Replacement

I've tried loads of different makes - and have come back to Mesa tubes in all but one case: Tung sol in V1 It gives a beautiful creamier response and more "feel" Mesa test exhaustively and their tubes are very good. With a RKII you are looking at a million different tonal possibilities on stock tube...

Re: Whats the difference between the Road King I and Series

The cleans on the RKII are vastly improved over the RK and the DR There's a few other tweaks but the main difference is the cleans. the RK gives you the choice of the EL34's and cabinet switching which the Roadster doesn't have I think You can get all the Dual Rec sounds out of a RKII -- exactly. Pl...

Re: Road King 2 and Recto Recording Pre - Similarities?

RKii has massively improved cleans (as well as other improvements) over the 1 -- I'm in love with mine if you read my other posts on the subject. I've had one for a while now and would not consider anything else (and I've tried quite a few amps!) Very sensitive to how they're dialled like most recs ...

Re: New Road King II arrives 2 days - any Tips?

And several months on now .. Much gigging, a bit more tweaking and the love affair is still going strong and growing ever more blissfull. I now use a well giigged boogie 4x12 with nicely played-in vintage celestions (man that is heavy to lug around .. But the road king head has already built up the ...

Re: New Road King II arrives 2 days - any Tips?

A few months in .... And still totally in love with the amp So versatile, so many sounds and flavors in one amp. I've gigged, rehearsed and recorded with it and it rocks. It makes me smile every time I switch it on, wait for the tubes to warm ... Flick it off standby and hit those first notes ... si...

Re: New Road King II arrives 2 days - any Tips?

Thanks for the replies ... Several gigs and rehearsals in and I'm still in live with the amp It is heavy - but not that much heavier than a dual rec --- I just love those four channels and variety of sounds from it. It has so much punch too. I did donmy back in lifting a bass bin out of the van last...

Re: New Road King II arrives 2 days - any Tips?

Well it arrived, I had two or three hours playing with it in my rehearsal room, then took it out and gigged it the next night.... All I can say is wow, wow, wow and .... Probably one more wow! It rocks. I don't know if the circuitry on ch3 is supposed to be the same as the DR, or if its just fresher...
