Restoring my Mark I (servicing and OEM parts in the UK)

I'm finally going to bite the bullet and get my Mark I restored – over the last 10 years one thing after another has broken (the reverb, then the pilot light, then the GEQ…) and I'm going to treat it to a full resto as a 44th birthday present. My first question for any UK folks, now that John...

My C+ is powering itself off

A small update on this – the behaviour has now completely gone…after a 36hr period of being easily reproducible. Aside from playing on the class-A setting for a while (what a huge difference, and not in a good way) before switching back to simul-class, I haven't changed anything about the rig or...

My C+ is powering itself off

Another thing I'll be trying is class-A operation rather than Simul to see if that makes any difference.

My C+ is powering itself off

@woodbutcher65 Yup, totally powering off, not just muting or speaker disconnect (it's as if you unplugged it from the mains – tubes power down, signal dies, power light off…). The amp is just sat in one corner of my flat and never moves so I'd be surprised if it's managed to work any connections...

My C+ is powering itself off

I was playing last night and after about an hour, my C+ powered itself off. No pops / bangs / extra noise / smells / smoke / drama, just a fade out in volume (same as the sound of the caps draining when you switch to standby while playing). I've only ever had a single tube go bad in the past (an...

Attenuator recommendations for a Mark II

Thanks everyone for your replies on the thread, I ended up getting the Ox earlier this week. Really impressed by how well it works with the C+, all the clips online being with low-wattage Fenders and Plexis I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm going to leave a few impressions here in case anyone...

Attenuator recommendations for a Mark II

Thanks for the input guys. Is the Captor basically a Live without the recording features? (I’m not super fussed about them you see.) What sort of volume reduction are you able to get with a two notes setup? (Since posting I have seen Mesa are shipping a new Cab Clone with attenuator soon...)

Attenuator recommendations for a Mark II

Has anyone got any experience or recommendations for running an attenuator with their Mark II, or any other vintage Marks? Everywhere seems to recommend the UA Ox, but I'm not really that bothered with a lot of the recording features, and all of the demos online are with Deluxes and JTM-45s...

Buffers & the Mark II FX Loop

Wanted to gather some thoughts / experiences on the use of buffers and the FX loop of the IIC+ According to this article https://mesaboogie.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/226119347-Should-I-use-a-Buffer-in-my-amp-s-effects-loop- published by Mesa, all amps since the IIC+ have had a buffered FX...

Best Guitar & Pickup combo for a IIc+?

From a non-metal perspective – I play Telecasters 90% of the time, my guitars are all very different in character but the C+ adapts very well to each of them. One of the things I think it does very well in general is bring a great deal of its own character to the tone without stepping on the...

    Amp-style Reverb Pedal

I like to play with the reverb on my C+ engaged, but dialling it in tends to roll off a little bit of the high end and I don't like the compromise to the tone. At a recent service the tech told me the amp and circuit were in fine shape, and that it was a common (and not 'fixable') request from...

    Question on IIC SRG

As I understand it, if a (non-plus) IIC falls under the IIC+ production range there is a chance that the original owner opted for it not to be produced as a C+ at the time of purchase, in which case the chassis would be marked with a dash. That said, 11XXX makes that amp pre-C+ (123XX)...

Mark 2B lead channel really quiet.

+1 on the relay also - faulty relay in my old IIB caused volume drop on the lead channel (channel switching was unaffected, i.e. still noisy :)

    Cables, FX, and the IIC+

No kidding, what coincidence. Well, it's in London now, and a nice cabinet it is too. Is the Boogie Board on its way out? Doesn't seem to have the same activity as a couple of years ago, weird.

    WTB 1x12 cabinet

Got a Thiele in the end but still hit me up if you have an open-back EV-loaded Mark series cab.
