I just scored this off ebay

Yes, try a full compliment of JJs. Visit www.eurotubes.com/ and look for their retube kits. There are 3 available for the DC-3 with various ranges of gain. As mentioned, I went with the general setup (+AT7 for reverb) and it sounded so SO much better than the stock tubes...smoother gain and...

I just scored this off ebay

I have the DC-3 combo w/Celestion V30 retubed with Eurotubes standard DC3 JJkit w/12AT7 equivalent for reverb. Amazing amp - made me a Mesa fan. Had for about a month and it's getting all the gigs (Z, Vox and Fenders are stacked out of the way). This thing covers an amazing breadth to tones...

Replacement Knobs for 5-band EQ (DC Series, Mark Series)

Anyone know of a parts place online/otherwise that stocks cosmetic parts for Boogies? One of the 5-band EQ knobs from my DC-3 grew legs last night... Already put in a call to Boogie, but thought I'd see what the population here had to say. Appreciate the input. DW

Going to Sell this Amp *sniffle*

Just saw this thread. Yes, the boost (or EQ used as a boost) works better between the guitar/amp rather than the effects loop: 1. Gives you a boost 2. Gives you more compression (slams pre/power tubes) 3. Adds more gain/grit Effects loop should be for, well, effects like...

DC-3 Available in a Head or just the Combo?

Did a quick Google search and did find they introduced the head in I believe 1990. Good call on the reverb - would actually prefer a head w/out - Really don't use reverb and Mesa seems to have done some really crazy 'engineering' routing out the bottom of the head to accomodate the pan - like...

DC-3 Available in a Head or just the Combo?

Am quite enamored with my DC3 combo and looking for a head for fly dates. Did Mesa make such a beast? Thanks! DW.

Tell me about the DC-3 combo...

Yes, the amp will get those tones. Would, as mentioned above, immediately spring for a set of JJ's from Eurotubes with the higher gain (Satriani/Petrucci) specs. I'm shocked at the versatility of this amp. Clean can cover Brent Mason-esque Nashville cleans, Paisley light-grit Nashville...

    DC's

AT7 lowers the gain - warms the reverb up making it smoother and more usable...takes that 'sproing' out of the tone/sound. Most amp mfgs don't use AX7s for reverb driver for that reason. Fender verb is more/less the bar and you'll find AT7s or the equivilent in the reverb driver position...

    DC's

Another for the JJ's. Eurotubes basic kit with an AT7 in the reverb driver. Amazing what it did for this amp pulling those stock Mesa tubes for the JJs. Favorite amp hands down (over a Z, Vox and Fender). Dw.

    DC-3 Speaker question

Sounds like you need to look at the tubes first. Phase Inverter, V1 AX7 or the power tubes.

    anyone use a compressor?

I've been using a Boss CS-2 (older w/o the tone control) on one board and a Keeley Compressor on another. Love both for different reasons - Keeley for its transparent studio quality rack comp nature and the CS-2 for that colored Nashville/Brent Mason squish. Keeley is quiet and true bypass...

    Line 6 Delay module. DL4

Actually, if you pick up the Continuous controller, you can have 6 effects. 1 delay type toe up, 1 delay type toe down - will morph between effects in the middle and can get strange if you're playing at the moment. But, if you just want the variety to switch between songs, it's very useful.

DC-3 Owners - what tubes, speaker? what guitar and setup?

I'm using a soft version of the V as well on the Lead channel. Tried several different configs (those in the manual and a couple other 'ideas'). Have the EQ on the Lead channel only and on at channel switch to keep the overall amp color similar to the clean channel (EQ cuts some of the mid...
